I've just deleted a song (unintentionally) from Itunes . Is there anyway I can get it back?? The song was selected in Itunes as I hit the Del button, the song has not gone to the recycle bin.

Is there an easy way to get the file back? (im not faffin about with recovering deleted files - if thats the only way to get the song back i'll just have to try and buy it again)

Nah seriously tho, I would really like to know if files can be easily recovered in this situation, I know when files are deleted they're simply 'stamped' as available space to be overwritten, but just wondered if there was a way to recover them. I used to have a program to do it about 2 years ago, but cant remember what it was called.

I can get the song again, but as I deleted that song out of an album - I will have to just get the whole album again

HAve you checked the actual iTunes Library folder on your hard drive. My itunes asks do I want to delete from the hard drive as well as from my play list when I delete a tune.

If its there you can just reimport it.

Just search for the song name on your hard drive.

As I understand it, the iTunes Shop keeps a recod of all the music you've bought. If your library goes tits-up, or you delete something by accident, you've already bought and paid for it, so you can download it again free of charge.


Disclaimer - iTunes is an abomination, and I have nothing to do with it. If you want cheap music, just buy the CD off eBay, and you've got it there for the next time you bin it by accident.

found it!! Last night I totally forgot Itunes just deletes the song from the playlist, not the hard drive!
