well ive been busy all day today

started at 9am doing a 2hr bike lesson on the 500, that went fairly well, just needed to remember to get the lifesavers in the right place, then went for a quick ride myself after the lesson as some extra practice. back to the riding school for another 1hr lesson before my test.......

the test went well, no mishaps or anything, but the examiner did follow me in her car :S which confused me abit mad1.gif

my instructor said to get another car between her and me and id do fine grin.gif

well anyways, u turn..ok, E stop...ok, general riding...ok

now the debreif......the examiner took her time getting sorted so it added to the suspense mad1.gif after all that she said 'well done youve passed'

i was over the moon to say the least grin.gif

hmmm now i have to go out and decide what new toy i want to buy :S

It's not the best of engine sizes for a long run, but Anth has been all over on his & I've done a few 140+ mile jaunts and had to switch to reserve for the home leg.

I think his first trip to squires he didnt even have a bike and someone picked him up from a train station.

Go on, you know you want too grin.gif plus you've got a whole 2 weeks to find a bigger bike yet

yes thats very true lol

dont tempt me lol, if i can find the time ill be there lol even though i dont knwo the way grin.gif
Anth
True- my first Squires was on the Train to York, then Dink (she doesn't really appear anymore) picked me up.

The year after was on a busted up, 15yrold CG125 (just remember to check the bolts before you leave wink1.gif )

Easily done, just follow the A19 to the York Ringroad then splinter off from there, once I get back from Kent I'll send you the routecard I made last time. Your Varadaro will cope just fine, as long as you can cruise at 60MPH you'll not have much bother... there's overtaking lanes for a reason wink1.gif

Like I said earlier, Congrats on the pass grin.gif
I#m chuffed for ya

Nah, bollocks to that!

If you want to go, go now, motorways or no- whatever rings your bell.

Planning & preparation, then some more planning & preparation & then double check you haven't overlooked anything important in your planning & preparation. Don your finest motorcycle gear and your sensible head for the journey, zip up your petrol & beer money safely & away you go!

You'll have an adventure, whatever, & that's what makes life sweet! beer.gif

Didn't think it necessary to back up the thing about motorways having slow lanes for a reason, but it occurred that you might really be concerned. Well, can't guarantee that you won't find one that hasn't slept for a week, but most of the people that'll overtake you on your 125 will be lorry drivers & they're the best drivers out there, as a rule.

It's the knobs that reside in lanes 2 & 3 you need to worry about; or rather, you won't need to worry about on your 125. lbhh.gif

Stay in Lane 1 on the motorway.

Keep the bike at about 50mph. It's what I do.

You won't really piss people off as they have another lane to overtake you on. Plus it's all legal.

The reason to to keep it at 50mph is so that you don't blow your engine. I blew an engine because I was riding at a continuous 60mph. That was within the first 2 weeks I got the bike though.

Just stay calm and don't fall asleep. I like to look in my right mirror each time a car overtakes me to make sure it's not going to hit me.

ive done plenty motorway miles back and forth to newcastle upon tyne, and my vavr can keep a steady 65 - 70 :P

bu its just finding time to go down to squires lol

on a lighter note, went for a look see around the local bike shops, spotted one or 2 machines in my price range but gonna keep looking around

Well done fella

Firstly Congratulations beer.gif bowdown.gif buttrock.gif

Secondly motorways aren't too bad on a 125, you just have to keep the throttle pretty much nailed lbhh.gif

I used to do Essex to High Wycombe on my 125, not the most fun (until there's loads of traffic) "Oh yeah car bods, who's laughing now?" lbhh.gif lbhh.gif lbhh.gif )
