Why not use
this site for Glass. Looks like CAP green book is only available to trade.

Many thanks for taking the time to look and post. Both books are only available to the trade but you have to pay a yearly subscription to get copies or like me try to buy a copy off somebody.

Seems they missed the R out of CAP.
Having recently compared the two valuations on several different bikes, CAP's prices seem notably lower.
Would Parker's be of any use also?

They seem to value bikes lower than both Glass's and Parker's (the ones I asked about, anyway).
Probably doesn't help that all the dealers I've not liked were using CAP instead of the other two.

where did you get the price quotes from Glass, afaik you even have to pay for an oline evealuation from glass,So i'd like to know where you got your info from... the only one thats free to use is Parkers but its well out on price from the other two guides.

Went into dealers', spoke with sales blokies and asked "how much for the following bikes".
They flipped to the relevant pages and read off the numbers. Most would even show the page to prove how 'fair' the offer was.
Several of my clubs were selling/PXing their rides, so since I was going around the dealers, I asked while I was there;
Triumph Sprint ST
Triumph Trophy
650 Dragstar
1100 Dragstar
1100 Pan
VFR 750
Across the board CAP quoted the lowest prices for these bikes when compared to Glass, Parkers and several magazines (who claim to use the same sources).
Personally, I'd sell on Fleabay or something where people still pay over the odds.

AFAIK they all list the trade price which is why they are so low, eg its what a dealer would pay for it to buy it off another dealer.
Private sale and dealer prices are above trade prices, in some cases nearly double.
Best bet if your looking to find the private sale value is to compare to other bikes (eg MCN, biketrader etc) glass is basically only useful to you if you are a trader or for a VERY rough approximation.

CAP and Glass's are more what the vehicle is worth, any other prices are the over inflated values you see in the market.

Isnt a product worth exactly what people are willing to pay for it?

Well, if CAP is right, I'll just leave my £400 worth of metallic sh!te at the side of the road here and insist that the dealer sell me that Harley for the mere £2,000 the book says it's worth.
IMO, the vehicle is worth whatever the current going price is for one in similar condition, including the modifications.

this caught my eye because Im currently waiting for my car to be valued as some bint wrote it off. Am I right in saying then that as they use the glass method apparently what they are going to give me is the trade value of the car... ie. a value so low that I can't afford to replace my car with a similar one?
The first offer which I have refused is under half what the car cost and was insured for... looks like Im going to have to stump up around £500 to by a car back of similar value. Or just buy something cheap and rag the thing to death...
heres a question/thought for you... when you insure a bike or car you tell them how much the vehicle is worth. What is the point of that if they don't pay any attention to what you put? Fair enough i could have lied and told them my car was worth £10k instead of the £1000 it was worth, but that would have effected my premiums, so I would have been paying for insurance to cover a £10k car. As it is I may as well have said my car was worth £10 and got the really cheap premiums that would entail.
I'm actually really pissed off at the moment as because some woman cannot reverse out of a parking space I am now £500 down and without a car...
Still. I have my bike

You need to get copies of prices of vehicles of similar mileage, condition and age to argue your case.
