cant resist a bargain , but its gonna need alot of work! Ive tried selling it to zombie as it has a rhs gearchange but he said no... at least its not a scooter!

EB, how about a step by step pictorial on the restoration of the bike. Kind of like 'a bike is born' ukbikeforum style. You won't get you're own camera man and budget but at least you don't need previous experience of sticking your hand up a cow's jacksie...
To explain that comment incase it went over your head. Mark Evans, who does the 'a bike is born' series started out as a vet.

Yes, I would pay £50 for that! Looks complete anyway - and it's not covered with red oxide paint like the 400/4 I paid £70 for!

the bike is now completely dismantled, thanks to my dad. but ive now got someone offering me £500 for it .. as is.. so i might just rip there hand off and make a quick profit!

Take the money, buy another bargain, spend the money you got from the first bike on it.
Simple economics really. How much is it going to cost you to restore it (a) and what will it be worth when it is restored (b). If the difference between a and b is less than £450 then sell and use the money to find something else and restore that.
