I have 2, one of those bulb in a cage ones that I have broken the bulb several times in due to dropping, and a halogen one that sits on the ground or can be hung from a hook etc. Both were from homebase I think and do pretty much what they say.
I actually find the security lamp on the wall to be better as working on the patio I never have anywhere to hang the lamp so it usually ends up sitting on the floor while I work in the dark!

I just went to the local hardware shop and bought the standard lamp, the one with the cage around it with a hanging hook, Must have been about £8.

normaly because of the higher voltage on mains lamps then their built to a sturdier quality, so less chance of it getting broken.

Although low voltage lamps are themselves more robust than high voltage lamps.

I would have said "because there's power in the shed, and I can't be arrisd finding that my batteries have gone flat or been swiped for the telly remote..."
Makes more sense to me
