Hi All,

thinking of buying an SV... problem is I like the faired version, but it has clipons, I'd like to buy it and then change then for more upright bars...

Firstly is this a good idea

Secondly can I buy something to raid the clipons or do I have to get the who top yoke replaced.

Lastly how much??

As always....many thanks mad1.gif

Don't know myself but I've always preferred flat bars to clip ons or ace bars. On unfaired bikes it wasn't a problem but as you noticed, the fairing might be a problem. There are plenty of custom parts kicking around for the SV but you might find you get more specialized knowledge from a SV owners site. Those guys can normally tell you everything about specific models, right down to what set of tyre flies to use. wwww.gif

You may have to replace the top yoke with one from the un-faired version, but I couldn't be certain it'd fit without measuring.

I put straights on my RF but that has a dummy yoke that holds the clip ons - I just took this off and fitted some bar risers through the rubber bushes that the dummy yoke bolted through. Luckily all the wiring fitted and the bars cleared the fairing, but it really needs some longer throttle cables to maintain their original routing.

i had a a faired sv. you will need a new top yoke. plus you will probably find the normal handlesbars might foul the fairing...

id say keep the clip ons they are quite high and it isnt that uncomfy once you get used to it wink1.gif

I would go with EB - I tired his sv and found the riding position fine with good visibillity. How bout buying the unfaired bike and finding a fairing or nose shield?

Word to the wise - a fairing makes you go faster cos you feel lee=ss blasted - maybe a naked sv will maintain the licence?

An SV was one of the bikes I sat on when I was looking for a bike, I prefered the unfaired version. probably because after just passing a fairing seemed a bit daunting, especially not being able to see the front wheel. I ended up with a VFR..full faired...go figure....Im a girl.

I found the SV handle bar position to be great.

I would recommend not looking at the front wheel while riding. idea32.gif
