any hornet owners out there..... does a hornet (600 unfaired) have a fuel gauge??

I don't know for certain but judging by the clock's I'd guess no, it'll probably just have a warning light. The faired one does though I believe.

if its not on the clocks.....
Its called a reserve tap M*
funnily enough, we managed for bloody years without guages,& they aren't that accurate anyway.

I wouldn't rely on it even if it does as they all lie one way or the other! Get a petrol can (with petrol in and take it with you or get someone to follow you), fill the tank and keep riding until you run out. Then and only then will you know the tank range. Reset your trip meter after each fill up and use that as a guage of when to fill up. There will be some variation and you will get some warning when the bike starts to splutter and its time to switch to reserve. If you get past the point where you would normally do this make sure its not already on reserve because you forgot to turn it back, don't assume you're fuel consumption has gone down because it probably hasn't and you will run out.

The Hornet doesn't need a fuel gauge -it does about 100 miles on a tankful so just set the trip meter when you fill up, and refill before the 100 miles comes up.

How much before depends on where you are. On motorways the fuel stops come pretty regularly, in the Welsh mountains if you see a petrol station when you've still got half a tank - and it's open, you fill up! (I nearly learnt this the hard way, and my GT has 200 miles in the tank!)

check the mcn website for some reviews, specs, road tests, buying tips and owner reviews on MCN under bike reviews.

You can search for the specific bike and year range.

I've search the Hornet + SV for you + got the links. Had to guess a year + couldn't remember whether they were the faired or unfaired you wanted. (looked up the unfaired).

Hornet specs

or

Also, just remembered my mate currently has an SV650 + used to ride a Hornet. Do you want me to get his email address for you??

unfortunately it's making me even more into hornets, instead of weaning me off them, especially when I find they do 250cc imports from Japan.
mmmmm interesting, very interesting........ devil1.gif
