Well I picked up the Gilera Runner VX 125 on Saturday to take home and sell.

I rode it roughly 25 miles home and as the tires were sufficiently warmed up and the new rubber seemed to be gripping well as I reached home I decided to have a little play around with it along the M25 Jct 9 connector by-pass (between the Clockwise and Anti roundabouts).

From a standing start at the roundabout I was hitting 50MPH within 2-3 seconds and at full whack the thing was hitting 105MPH on the flat before I wound it down to hit the bend (as I used to go along that road daily I know it's notorious for diesel spillage at the bend under the bridge cos lorries park there overnight etc.) Very nice for a factory-release Moped!

Not keen on the riding position though, even if it's more comfortable than the old DNA.

So... My One Word Review of the Runner is:-

"Dastgrodge" (Damn Fast Grey Splodge)

Well at least from the point of view of someone who's never broken 75MPH... hehe

105. wwww.gif

That must have been some curry.. bowdown.gif

Why do the current restriction laws not seem to apply to Italian bikes? Even there 50's go a lot faster than anything else.
ZOMB!E
The laws regarding learner bikes are complicated but geared bikes have stricter retsrictions than automatics hence a 125 auto will or should be more powerfull than a 125 bike. But 105mph? Oo1.gif Oo1.gif

Oo1.gif 105?

Err... call me stupid but my 600 Bandit takes some winding up over the 100 (although I've seen 115 with the new fairing on I have to admit) but I would say that puts it in very highly tuned territory.

Not that I know anything of course wwww.gif

Are you sure it wasn't KMH at all eyebrow.gif

arris wwww.gif

WTF is KMH then you utter tosser BlandWit cry.gif

I mean, of course, m'learned friends that old foreign term KPH... feck these fecking acronyms it's Kilometres Per Hour to which I refer blush21.gif

It may have been Derestricted, I know the Aprilia RS125's (I think that's the model) can happily do 65MPH restricted but when you do the jobby on it, you can get best part of 90odd out of them (with a long enough run).

I hope my CG will be derestrictable fcrossed.gif

It'll make my year

The only restriction on the CG is the engine. laughcont.gif

Mind you, same on the Bandit wwww.gif sniffle.gif

There is only one way to get more than 70mph out of a CG
& that is to chuck it off cliff.

Sorry but that is the truth.

i used to have a CG125 & used it for the ride into the city as i was on a contract & did not need to use the XS I brought the 125 as i was doing very silly milage ( in fact the ride into work & back was longer than any of the runs i did during the day )

Was coming off a roundabout in Averly & a coper pulled me over & said he was nicking me for doing 90mph on the approach to that roundabout.
I dont think i helped myself by laughing at him.
before it went to court i took the bike down to my local tuner man & had him thrash the nuts off it on a rolling road.
this was conected to a computer I took the print out to court with me as well as some specs that i laid my hands on.

When asked if i had anything to say for myself
i showed them the proof i had
which amounted to
the honda CG125 can not do 90mph in fact my bike would not go over 67mph
case dissmissed

What you of course omitted to tell them was that you were free wheeling down a very steep hill with a following wind and the clutch in at the time laughcont.gif (alternative to chucking it off a cliff as it would need to be a very big cliff for gravity to accelerate it to 90 mph). Having said that the speedo on my CG regularly said I was doing 110 because as soon as I hit anything over 60 it would just sweep right round the clock and wouldn't return until I got below 30 again.
