I need to change both front and back pads on my Honda CB500.

I have in my garage a set of pads made by Kyoto (part number S1958) which I know are for this bike, but I don't know if they are front or back.

Take of the old ones and have a look, I hear you say.

Not that easy as I am at work and need to order the other set so I can do the whole job in one day.

Does anyone know if these pads, going by the part number, are front or back.

Cheers
Billy M
hi mate, dont know about the part number, but normaly front and rear pads are shaped differently, the front pads have a small lug that the securing pin goes through, and the rear set are a different shape with two lugs....

these, are not for your bike, but show what im on about grin.gif

Thanks Billy.

Your post got me thinking about looking for pics of CB500 brakes and I came up with this:

IPB Image

This shows front and rear, and going on this I think I have the front pair which are longer. Apart from that they look very similar with a round hole at one end and a locating lug at the other.

Cheers for your help, you steered me in the right direction.

Varies, though, Billy. Fireblade's front pads have two lugs.

Rear pads are (nearly) always smaller for the smaller caliper!

The 106 is for the front, the 023 is for the rear according to Gold Fren's catalogue, so that should give you a bit of help
