Hi to you all

Finn
as far as I know its the ZZR1400 at around 190mph stock.

Fazerstun
Hayabusa I reckon
SyRexx
zzr 1400

hayabusa is limited to 185mph O.o

See, shows what I know.

CB125, down hill with a follwoing wind after a good curry

Fastest as in top speed (estimated/claimed) or fastest in terms of acceleration?
Myself, I'd have thought the 'Busa...

After a quick Google;

Finn's ZZR1400 has a 'potential top speed of around 200mph' and a 0-60 of 2.5 seconds according to MCN.

Fazer's Suzuki GSX1300 Hayabusa is apparently limited to 189mph, but '99 models in copper or black supposedly slipped through and there are claims of 215+. 0-60 is around 1.5 seconds.

A brief comparison is here...

A video of the Drag Race betwixt the two

Something similar but more technical and with pretty graphs

I hear that the hayabusa isn't too good at going round corners as it's not as nimble as smaller sportsbikes.

you wanna try telling that to the guy's from Aberdeen bikers. one of them was two up on his Busa when i took them for a tour of the westcoast... took them along the road where Cat binned her bike,(816 i think its called) and i couldnt shake him...everytime i looked in my mirrors...there he was following along.
so dont believe everything your told about bikes mate. cos most of the time the rider makes the difference.

He speaks true.
You can have the 'fastest' vehicle in the world, but if you're handling is pants then it's not worth spit.

From personal experience alone, my bike is supposed to do 0-60 in 7 seconds and have a top speed of 92mph. I've beaten both according to my speedo. Similarly it's also supposed to have a very wide turning circle (OK, it does) and yet I've taken it round corners faster, tighter and cleaner than a much more experienced rider on the same model.

Now imagine what a good rider could do... Heck, there are enough videos on Youtube demonstrating that!!

Don't matter cos all the roads will be reduced to 20/30/50 mph soon veryangry.gif

Well not quite there, fast comes with skill... look at Moto GP for example wink1.gif

Oh and I was under the impression that the gentleman's agreement limited ALL new stuff to 300kph (186mph)

It's a big slow cruiser...
Just not as slow as they'd have you believe, I guess.

Guess not...

Then again, I know it's nice to have, but where on the road would you need that kind of speed?
The review I was reading suggested you'd want to be able to see at least 4 miles of straight empty road to ride at such speeds.
TBH, I'd be too scared to even take one of these for a test ride.

I think the fastest bike for sale in the UK is the MV Agusta F4 1000/312 (?). 312km/hr top speed, and it's a racing bike. That's pretty quick!

The likes of the ZZR1400, 'Busa, and maybe even the Blackbird would be up there too, but for the aforementioned "gentlemens' agreement" forced by the French, which only seems to apply to Japanese bikes :-/

I thought the "Gentlemens agreement", was an agreement made by the 4 big jap companys, didnt realise the French had a hand in it cos all their road bikes are restricted by law to 100 bhp...anyone got a link so i can read up on it?
drbandit
Trust me.

You don't need a bike that'll do faster than 138 mph (indicated) on that stretch of M62 just west of Bradford.

Allegedly. fcrossed.gif

That's why I no longer own such a bike. eyebrow.gif

EDIT: What happened to Ima anyway? He bought that thing off me...

I do believe you're right. I seem to have got two different limits confused. According to a review of the 312 in The Telegraph:
"The 312 in its name is not some obscure reference to a Sixties F1 Ferrari, but the MV's top speed in kph, in English that's 194mph, which with the Japanese restricting themselves to a voluntary 300kph limit, makes this the world's fastest motorcycle. "

And yes, France has a blanket ban on bikes >100bhp. That's a bit sad...

GrahamB
I think one of the scariest things is, even when you're doing 90mph, you're still only HALF way to your top speed ooh2.gif ooh2.gif ooh2.gif ooh2.gif

Yes I do think about it a lot when I'm out grin.gif Mainly when I'm stuck behind some nob in a BMW who thinks he's got the fastest vehicle on the planet rolleyes.gif
Finn
looks like the name is a bit wishful thinking as MCN only got it to 182

The restricted 189mph of the ZZR might still be higher..

Although I didnt know the "gentlemans agreement" was still in effect, given that i'd change my vote to the early busa's which came through before the restriction came into effect. it was once on sale in the UK even if it isnt now!
GrahamB
Well this is the second "gentleman's agreement"

The original was to restrict bikes to 125bhp but I'm pretty sure it was Kawasaki that ripped that up with the ZZR1100 grin.gif

There was then a massive whinge about the Busa and ZX-12R knocking on 200mph so they quickly did a bit of an agreement to stick to 300kph sad1.gif shame sad1.gif

Yup, hence why I thought the ZZR14 had ignored it this time!
GrahamB
maybe they've done what BMW do with the M series (supposed to be limited to 155) and just kind of made it... well... not quite 155 more like 170 grin.gif

I read that it was Triumph with the Daytona 1200 (147BHP), and then the Japanese manufacturers followed suit, with Kawasaki having the ZZR1100 just waiting to have its full power unleased in the UK like it already had in (most of) the rest of the world.
GrahamB
you may well be right mate grin.gif

I know it was around 1992 ish though smile1.gif
Egg 'n' Bacon
Yeah, the ZZR was originally restricted to only 122bhp. But the full size carb tops went on after a couple of years to give 147bhp.
Aidan8888
if these bikes can get to 190+ restricted, then how fast can they go unrestricted, say the busa or ZZR14?
devilpaint
Zx12R, i KNOW mine is faster than my mates Busa, thats why he bought a 12R grin.gif
