If you do to lock your bike up then cut up an old pushbike inertube and thread your chain through it (wd40 helps), and hey presto no more scratched rims. EASY tounge1.gif

Yea, but your geting ready, thats the main thing.

But yip, I did that tip a while back, I'm infact going to get a big fcuk off bit of chain from a boat yard and do that, as I'm quite sure the chains you buy from bike shops more/less the same anyway.

I wouldn't have thought so boat chains would need to be softer to stop them from breaking security chains would be hardened to stop them being cut or chopped. I thought I would open out a link on mine to get the lock through easier but when I squeezed it in the vice it broke as it was quite brittle, it was a big vice though.

Where do you carry your chain cos they aint half heavy and most bike thieves just pick bikes up and stick them in the back of a van. Make sure you chain it to something solid and don't carry the chain in your suit 'cos they make a mess of you if you fall off onto them!

I have the bike shed alarmed. I also have my bike alarmed. I also have a anchor in the ground which me and my old man chains our bikes too. I also put disc locks on front and back. Also when I go away e.t.c I get a piece of wood, hammer aloud of nails in it, flip it upside down so the nails are pointing upwards and place it inside the door, good luck to who trys to take my pride and joy. lbhh.gif

Also when you chain your bike, chain it high up so the chain is dangerling as its harder to cut through.

I heard of a fantastic device that fires a blank shotgun cartridge when someone opens the shed door. It works with a trip wire fastened to the shed door. when it goes off the little theivin scumbag sh!ts himself and runs for the hills lol grin.gif lbhh.gif

I dont bother with expensive locks etc you can spend £1000 on chains , locks and other security devices but unfortunately at the end of the day.... if they really want it then they will take it anyway! even if that means getting violent with you for the keys. I would rather claim on my insurance and pay the excess, cos its cheaper than paying for excessive security.
