We are all familiar with Ima's rather snazzy reflective decals eyebrow.gif but I have a question.

Is there any legal requirements, when fitting reflective stuff to your bike. I know a vehicle must have a rear reflector and I assume it must be red but can other reflectors fitted to the rear of vehicles be any colour or do the all have to be red.

Just wondering, if there is anything like this to take into consideration before I eventually order my stickers. wwww.gif

I have noticed that some new cars fitted with the red bulb and a clear lense are a little miss leading at times, as at first glance appear to be very light in colour and if it wasn't for blinking they could be seen as an indicator not functioning correctly.

But again motor factors seem to change us all to sealed beam then back to bulb then to capless type bulbs then change the fitting mad1.gif and then they say we have standards or is it standards that different to each other??

A good point dave and one i didn't consider when i started the making the stickers.
They were originally intended to go on helmets or the sides of the bikes to increase driver awareness.
It's something i'll keep in mind when people ask in future. blush21.gif

Oo1.gif I, of course, could not possibly comment wwww.gif

But mine are on the side... which is kinda pointing forward (the way I ride round corners that is laughcont.gif ) so that's all right then... cool2.gif

That's right Blandy, you got the cuckoo graphics for the side of the bandit. We've heard about them but nobody has ever seen them. swivel.gif

Any light or reflective material shown to the rear of a vehicle must be red except in the case of a direction indicator which is amber.

what about yellow reflectors on clothing/helmets??

Welcome Wayne.

I think you'll probably okay there because its not actually on the bike. I have silver reflective piping on my jacket and boots, which faces backwards. I think you can pretty much have anything, so long as its seperate from the bike.

I don't think the police would bother too much about the wrong colour of reflector anyway. Its probably better to have the reflectors, than not to have them. So long as you do have the red reflector for the MOT.

My MOT place sells the red reflectors for pennies (one each year to me for a start) sticky ones , actually car ones cut in half to stick at the bottom of the number plate as my taillight does not have a proper reflector built in. cool2.gif
