It's Sunday afternoon and an alarm is blarting out somewhere.
What's your reaction?

I wish he'd shut that fecking thing up.
my god someones nicking so and so's car/bike.
he'll be along to turn it off in a mo.

The point being how many times have you heard an alarm and just thought oh ffs not again!!

I saw a car the other week with the alarm blaring away two old folks in it and everyone was just stood staring at it, truth be known me included.
They obviously were having trouble with the car but yet we all just looked at it as it drove past.

at what point do you intervene? or do you?

i fitted the damn things for 4 1/2 years.....
IF the owner can hear it at the time the cars getting robbed they are fantastic, everyone else will walk away, if the alarm yelled "FIRE" everyone would look rolleyes.gif
a £2.00 flashing red light on the dash or in your fairing is just as effective, that will put off opportunist
if you have alarm, do not stick the alarm stickers on ur window... as the theft will know the make of it and may know how to disable it
imoblizers are ok if you get a good one, and is well hidden
bike alarms should have a self powered siren, big bikes tend to be shoved into the back of van, were they can mess about cutting the power supply, self powered ones just keep goin! grin.gif

The HD had one with an imobliser on when I bought it...

5 years down the line it decided to arm itself - dead engine, flashing indicators, loud noise - whilst I was 'making progress' down the outside lane of the M4. verysad.gif

Fortunately I had enough momentum to get across 3 busy lanes to the hard shoulder, for a rapid ciggy and new batteries for the pacemaker , before crawling underneath and disabling the bugger. I took it out and rewired the following winter!

Thanks Woodz, that seems fairly straight forward, even for somebody of my limited knowledge. blush21.gif

I had one of those on a car once and I found that it was such a novelty people (especially kids) liked to kick the crap out of the car just to hear it 'speak' to them!! - beware!!

Had one of those too - great idea as long as you put the LED in a very visible place. You can also just hook it up to a 9v battery cap, add battery and put a rocker on/off switch in.

got a alarm fitted to the van

sensors back up battery led on dash

in my van because it is a minbus is has interior lights a lot more powerful than the little one you get in the front of a car these come on & stay on when the alarm goes off.
these lights can be spotted easly when it's dark
120db klaxon as well as the siren fitted when it goes off PEOPLE DO TAKE NOTICE.

have a imobolizer on the bike

I brought a push bike alrm from B&Q for £6 for the bike

it is a wire rope jobby that you loop through the wheel connect to the box no wires can only be disamred with the key try to cut the wire it goes off try to move the bike it goes off try to move the alarm it goes off & it is loud too.

but the best alarm i have got is my dogs
go near our gate or even walk past the house & the dogs lets us know.
