That guy made it look like hard work but that could be down too the weight of the bike, Tha chap a Fox's has a R6 a lot smaller and had it down to a fine art..good tho..
[JP]

That was you ooh2.gif FFS have you been on a diet or had a shave mate lbhh.gif you only look about 10 years old..

the Cat is a heavy bike well done bowdown.gif

I do this all the time with the 600 and the Busa wwww.gif - very handy cos our garage is in the back garden at the end of a very narrow drive - its often better than pushing em backwards forever.

Its easier that it looks once you get passed the FEAR of it all falling on top of you, its all counterbalance stuff so size of bike is not such a big deal.

Once showed my mate how to do this with his Faser as he was complaining about having to make 300 point turns in his garage, when I finished he said - Thats great Bruce but I wanted it facing the other way lbhh.gif

I tend to get low and the bike up close to my body/hip/leg when I do it JP not sure if its easier - gonna give a go standing further off as you do and see.

fishface
Never even thought of doing that before - and now do know how I managed without it...

Ok I tried that on the Bandit bit it was not as smooth as the guy on the video link, the Bandit stand is further forward and it harder to ballance the bike, as Busa said its far better than doing a 300 point turn in tha garage It will get better the more I do it beer.gif

the forum comes up tumps again bowdown.gif

I have. The alloy stands on Ducati Monsters are really weak. I've seen stands so bent that they're useless because of this trick.

You should be fine using it with steel stands, or heavier alloy stands.

You just messed with the wrong geek, KGB boy. veryangry.gif I have two air cooled Italian V-twins, and an extensive collection of large hammers which I use to repair them.

But hammers have other uses.

Oh yes they do...

He made that look easier than turning a pram. bowdown.gif
Rebo
I have to do this every time I take the bike out the front... cause its a nightmare to back out.... did it with the CBR, the FZR600 and now I do it with the FZR1000... maybe I should have a video of me doing it!!!
Nix
Not tried it yet myself but have to say that the fella makes it look easier than scoffing chocolate.. !
Tomo
Think I will try this. First video made it look hard work but that second vid made it seem so easy bowdown.gif

Must say I do have concerns about the strength of the stand though. It look like a twig that shouldn't be able to hold the bike up as it is. fcrossed.gif
voyager
lbhh.gif i do the same but use the bike stand on a block of plywood 18 inch square, drill and insert a a big bolt in the middle, put the center stand in the middle and turn the bike
Phil_Norwich
Never thought of being able to do that, gunna try it tonight when I turmn the bike around. Even thought the CBR is that light its easy to pick the back end up and turn it.
mrteapot
As a designer and technologist!!!... my view would be that the sidestand was designed to be a stand and could fail under those circumstances. Try a claim under warranty for that and see where it gets you. If it's out of warranty - well it's up to you!

I do this with my RS but only when i have no choice ya know , italian bike blah blah wink1.gif

I used to have to turn my ZXR in a tight space when i lived in wales, So i used the clutch, front brake and a few revs. Turned in its own length wink1.gif

I do the same with the Bandit and that is 220 Kgs
penguin_pervert
Hay JP I have seen this befor on a bike show on MM, but did you have your foot in frount or behind the side syand?
[JP]
usually you should have it behind, to prevent the stand to go back in...
penguin_pervert
Thats what i thought, but your vid looks like it is in front...
