i need a new battery for my GSX600F, one looking on the internet i've found 2 types, gel and acid.

Gel is more expensive and seems better but are they really worth the extra money?

I've jsut bought a house (literally last friday) so money is a tad tight and my bike is currently stuck at my old address waiting on a battery.

So what do people recommend, acid or gel?

any good places to get them from up in the north east or online?

went to a place in Sunderland and they wanted £38 for a gel battery, which seems about the norm.

I have had 2 gel batteys on two different bike both were very good and never let me down. if its price go for the acid battery just as good.

In my limited experience. The gel battery on my old Honda didnt falter once. But I'm forever having problems iwht the acid battery in the zephyr, and the one in the Mrs little honda 250.
So going by that....gel is showing better stats for me at the mo.

Gel batterys are maintenance free

unlike acid batterys which may require topping up
which can be a right pain if your battery is hidden away

i'd say go for the gel, fit and forget
