Took the SV for its first MOT today. panic trying to get the plugs back in the exhaust to make it road legal again, and they had to work out what to do about the lack of a rear reflector on the bike (there is one of the topbox)

Well it all passed. The reflector on the topbox is legal as long as its attached to the bike at the time of the test. and the exhaust was 'rather loud' according to the tester, but it still all passed.

took g/f on the back to/from the test center and all I could hear from her was oooo arrrr and can we go faster!!!!

now just need to get it from slough to watford (needs 2hr trip through London to get to slough in order to ride back to watford.

Weeeeeeee!!!!!! mad1.gif

If you need it running back from Slough i can oblige for you and maybe save you a journey through London.....

a reflector has to be in the centreline of the bike , so anywhere on the back is fine. We keep a cupboard full of stick on reflectors and normally put them on the bottom of the numberplate for a couple of pounds. Im a tester and i still think its a silly rule. After all the numberplate is alot larger reflector!

Mine passed - not even an advisory - a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll probably combine it with business asw well. still need to clear the new parking space for it, and fit the ground anchor.

RC30 and DRZ400 are going for their MOTs tomorrow. Should be OK. The one that I'm slightly worried about is the Fireblade, due next month, as I suspect the head races are on the way out, and the chain is definitely close to its wear limit. Ho hum. More bluddy money.

Both passed without even an advisory grin.gif

Got a chance for a few seconds to blow the cobwebs out of the RC - hok secind and thrang it up to 9K for a few seconds. I had the engine rebuilt a whiel ago and, dfue to the fact that it only comes out on nice warm dry days, it hasn't done much more than about 1500 miles since, so it's still not quite run in yet. It's a bit difficuult to use the full rev range though when the red line in 1st is over 90, mind. It does make me wonder how you can relaisticalyl run in one of the current crop of litre+ hyperbikes where 1st gear will get you to similar (and higher) licence shredding speeds.

BTW, the guy in the shop reckoned that what I was feeling on the blade (slight juddering under heavy braking) could be down to the fact that I replaced the front pads the other week and they havent bedded in properly yet. He reckoned that was unlikely to be the head races.
