Hello
Any advice on getting a new horn for my Bandit 600 (1996)?

The one I've got sounds particularly rubbish and is very intermittent.

Do I have to get one specifically for the bike all can I fit just about anything?

Cheers

So long as it's twelve volts and you have a bracket to fit plus the connections are the same, or you can change them, anything should do. There's usually some adjustment range on the horn itself if you look at it, usually a screw at the back, if you have any corrosion on the terminals also that will give you a poor maybe intermittent horn. An air horn may be useful!

Planning on getting a Stebel from here when I get around to it. You should be able to find one closer to you though.

Been discussed fairly recently here: http://www.ukbikeforum.co.uk/forum/index.p...617&hl=horn where you can see pics of a Steble Magnum fitted to my Hornet.

Just bear in mind the clearance needed for fork travel! Stick to non air compressor horns to stay MOT legal and do without wiring in a relay. Mine was a diret replacement for a tenner. Sounds just like a good car horn (went for the low tone option).

Hiya,

Have a look for one of these

Stebel Nautilus

I have got one on my van, it is compact and very loud, sure I could find the room for one on my bike, but you would not hear it over the exhaust lbhh.gif
