Well not new.... But bloody good!

I brought a Amaculate Honda CB250N for 130 quid today. lol

It Starts on the flick of the switch.
Brand new exhaust (but has motad can) sad1.gif
Brand new chain sproket
Rear End Stripped and redone aswell as sprayed
Recently spray black.

Bargin. I felt like I mugged the owner though...

Needs a new front tire.
New spark plugs, caps and leads.
Redex in carb.

I need a opinion what I should do to the bike?

I thinking of sticking yellow HT leads and red caps on the engine
changing the handle bars to something more standard
got no Idea on the paint job or decals.

Opinons would be appreciated buttrock.gif

If it hasn't been done already, fit a decent lamp up front; the originals were bloody appalling! (My ol' 'pot 'n' pans' 6v Enfield had better lighting ooh2.gif )

Bars; yes.

Brake systems could probably do with updating.

Wheels too, if you're willing to spend some dosh.

Looks like you got a bargain there beer.gif

ENJOY cool2.gif

Had a fair number of those myself. Wont win any prizes for looks, but they are a cracking machine. beer.gif
Mr Brownstone
bars deff need changing lol.

the wheels are ok. if I cant get the steel clean.

The brakes are new. New discs and a new model calipers. Not sure what make. Forgot to check. cool2.gif

anyone got any workshop manuals for this bike?

also I better change the lamp if it is a "locus prince of darkness" type of lamp. But how hard is it to change a 6v lamp with a 12v? do u just wire it up?

Ooer, I thought they were 12v. I think you'd need a complete electrical system (or near enough) to uprate the lighting.

Bummer
Mr Brownstone
hmm, I think it is 12v anyway. It isn't that old but it is still old enough to have 2 different numbers. Both part of the same bike mind you wink1.gif
Fourtoes
Wow, thats a good price. Looks good as it is just needs a bit of tweeking....how about ratting it!
drbandit
Go mad. Flat bars. New seat. Get rid of the rear fender. Spoked wheels. That's cafe racer material you've got there. cool2.gif
Anth
Where the hell did you get that from?
That is one hell of a bargain!
Mr Brownstone
my uncles work mate. I feel bad but I was looking to spend 150. Then when I saw it I thought, feck I am not going to get it for that price. So I offered him 130 to begin with and he took it.

Yeah I was thinking of doing it cafe racing style.

No chance for a rat. The engine is ammaculate along with all new chrome. I ain't spraying it matt black! lol

May have it original? Doubt it. I wanna make it custom.

Cosmetic wise there is not a single thing that is rusted or furred.

Ditto Drbandit beer.gif

Keep it original! It looks great!

The original brakes are fine anyway for stopping a 250. It's got the posh 'fishtail' rear seat surround. I think the wheels are off a 400 - not sure the 250 ever got the reverse Comstars, but I could be wrong.

People are beginning to appreciate the Superdreams, they're really rather good to ride if you don't expect too much from them, and the gearchange on mine is really sweet!

Mine are comstars too BG - not the smooth jobs - I wonder if they ran out of the others - or maybe they weren't as tough

lbhh.gif I have to get used to the honda change each time i take her out
Mr Brownstone
Yeah those Mags are original 250 ones. They were issued on the later 250 models apperently. I decided to keep the fairings and the mags original.

The back swing arm is all complete and all parts are chromed.

Engine has no fur on it so will be leaving it standard.

Im taking the fork gators off replacing them with the original covers? any one got pics of these?

Still dunno about the mirrors, tbh I don't like them. sad1.gif

Get new handle Bars.

Decide on the paintwork. What was the original paint work like? And decals.

ANyone have pictures so I can base it on?

Depends what year and colour it is. When you know that, you can get new decals from Sunrise Graphics

Needs a new front tire.

What has it got on the back? If the back one's a decent make/model the best thing is to match it. if it's acheapo get a good un for the front and match it on the back when the current one wears out - people say there's no point spending good money for tyres on a bike like this but it really DOES make a big difference to the handling!

I've fitted bar end mirrors to mine - less vibration problem

I'll see what pics I can find - mine is not standard paint though

BikerGran

Mr Brownstone
