got meself another bike today, the idea was to flog it to a m8 who is too tall for his 400 twin(without a profit obviously) but the bloke is kinda happy with his 400, now its got shiney black bits onnit(WHERE ARE THE PICS-YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE).
So today i organised meself(no mean feat) & brought Jens 125 frame in from the cold(its been sitting in a so-called m8's garden for a month while he supposedly lowered the rear shock mounts-he hasnt BTW)
While i had the trailer, i brought the cb 900 as well.
Some of you may know i was having a trike built, well its the same guy who was modding Jens frame-relationship has now shall we say "soured" a little( after i did a £400 paint job gratis as well-you live & learn dont you)

Soooo, do i trike the 900, restore it, or street fighter it?????????????????
or flog it as a winter hack?

The CB900 is a good looking bike.

winter bike? god no! brakes are sh!te in the wet and so damn heavy if you have a sliddie moment! trike maybe but not my cup of tea, street fighter noooooooooooo i wanna do that! :tounge:

needs a new cyl head gasket
front tyre leaks air(been standing for 3 years)
seat cover split
chrome 4-1 has been hand painted black hammerite.
runs, but could do with a service,
its all there, just needs a bit TLC

A) dont have a clue how to do one
B) its chain drive & a shaftie would be better i suspect.

i was trawling the net the other day for ideas & came across a mono shocked 900 with a single sided S/W ala viffer, i dont know what it is about the old nail , but it's got a bit of character-i'm looking forward to riding it,but all this has to wait until i've repainted Jens 125 frame & bodywork, & the ZZR of course.

Sounds as if it isn't going to cost too much to put back on the road, (apart from the exhaust). Especially, when you can do your own painting.

I'd restore it, then use it as one of the ukbikeforum bikes on display at bike shows around the country next year. It would attract people to the display, for when we hand out site flyers and stuff. I just need some help from a certain Geordie, to get my bike sprayed ukbkeforum colours during the winter and a certain Yorkshireman to do some big ukbikeforum stickers for the bike. It would be nice if the certain Geordie, could maybe drum up some nice looking classics, that's he's painted to sit on the display for the day.

There would also be paintwork by certain Geordie and stickers by certain Yorkshireman info on the display/flyers. But that's for the future, since I haven't mentioned it to anyone yet.

I've always like the big CB's. I bags a go, when you get it back on the road.

i,m looking into VF wheels forks, etc for mine, i know where there is some i love the trike billy connery had in his ausie thing, but most of the bike based trikes i've worked on have been orrible! theres been one or two vw ones in darlo , i dunno up norf ppl just seem to do half assed jobs, a guy did a fiat engined one, it was so nasty! it was a bike frame welded to a fiat axlewith a 2cv front wheel amd 13 inch standard wheels at the back!
the 900 would be nice restored, there value is going up all the time, last year a 750 was £600 now they fetch £1000 plus the 900 where the ones to have
don't polish the wheels! they must have 20 layers of laquer on em and paint stripper doesn't touch it! engines come up nice tho

you can have mine for shows......if it ever gets its ass on the road! And the bagpuss cbx the cbx is coming on, we desided on a boring black frame, the head stock is all together, forks rebuilt
i'd even do it in the forums colours(750) i'm looking for insperation
so the formentioned georgie and yorkshireman might have there work cut out this winter

Davie, you could always give me a shout and I can take my panniers and topbox down at the same time and give you a lift back. If its during the winter I'd be in no rush to get them back so DP can do them when he's finished the Viffer.

One of my pals is also supposed to be getting his Triumph sprint painted. We were also thinking of driving down in the car and dropping the stuff off. We could maybe arrange something to save us all having to make a double trip.

Davie, bringing it all down together makes sense, as does a night out in W/B, just remember its about £6 for a bottle of bud & a alcopop, i'd stick to pints m8,cant have another muffin incident can we?-fridays are the best nights(more naked girlie flesh per bar than during the week)

i have now been disinherited, my line rental is twice what it should be, i have spat the dummy out, & if by remote chance you wanted the cb900 i would personally destroy it piece by piece, rather than let you have it.
