Well the suzi had it's first long run this weekend, and, to be honest,
It ran like a headfull of snot.
It's getting Hot, Fecking Hot actually, so hot it will boil spit on the crankcase covers, not good me thinks.
This weeks contenders for annoying cause are:-
1 Ignition timing
2 carbs running too rich/lean
3 wrong exhaust
4 valve clearances

Incorrect ignition timing can make the bike run hot, as can too lean a mixture. If it's too rich it'll just feel under powered and probably pop and bang a bit. The exhaust would have to be completely wrong for the actual bike to make much difference I reckon. If the valve clearances are too loose it'll rattle like a good 'un. If they're too tight it will be hard to start and run poorly.

Pop the plugs out and have a look. If they're black then it's too rich, if they're white then it's lean. Check the timing with a strobe if possible.

Valve clearances are easy enough to check if you've got a manual.

If I only took my fiance out on a rare weekend then she'd be hot enough to boil spit on a crankcase too. eyebrow.gif
