Just a small tip for those less experienced in crap-weather riding (like me it seems )
If your waterproofs have external pockets covered with flaps make sure the flaps are closed before you ride away
I arrived at work this morning to discover that I could probably safely transport a goldfish in each pocket

another good one for zips is a bit of grease over the zip to stop water getting in through the zip.... its something i picked up from a diving school, and works great.....

The easiest way to lube and waterproof a metal zip (Barbours and a lot of leathers) is to rub a candle up and down them!

Always double check zips and studs are done up in bad rain. I drowned a mobile phone beyond the point of recovery last year
Check to make sure the pockets are meant to be waterproof in the first place, while most long/touring style waterproofs have external waterproof pockets most of the shorter cut styles only have waterproof inside pockets. This goes for trousers as well, I can keep nothing more than keys and metal money in my Dainese over trousers as some idiot thought it would be best to put the waterproof membrain behind the pockets.
Nikwax can help a lot with this.
Of course if any of us could be bothered to use our full over suits all our pockets would remain dry.
