Ayup all..fitted some Conti Road Attacks to the Trumpet today, I had heard some good reports about them and fancied a change..

They look very cool2.gif

They cost £175 fitted to loose wheels.. BUT.. that included 4ltr of Silkolene Comp 4 that I bought at the same time (thats normally about £27) so a V good deal I think eyebrow.gif

I've had Bridgestone 020 and 010 front 020 rear mixand for the last two years Metz Z6 so it will be interesting as to how they shape up Please feel free to slag off or praise them from your own experiences tounge1.gif

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on them with the wet conditions at this time of year. I have Dunlops fitted and they're great in dry weather but in the wet, they can be slippy until warmed up.

I'll be needing new tyres soon. I usually go with the BT020's because I trust them in the wet but if I heard good things about other tyres, I may be tempted. I've also heard the Pirelli Diablo's are good.

Conti Road Attacks rock! They do about 7000 miles on the Tuono. Strangely the front wore out the same time as the rear. The grip, I think anyway, is excellent and I've had no "moments" in the wet.

Make no mistake these aren't the hard as coal Contis of old.

I'm on my second set now and I paid about £140 fitted for the pair on loose wheels.

if some of you are like me and havent heard of these tyres.... http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/contibike/

cheeseybeans

If it's of any relevance I just had fitted a 3.50/18 Continental City from Tyresales UK, £32 plus 6:95 next day delivery. Cheap I think. Recommend them for quick delivery and prices. M&P seem slightly cheaper, only downside with them is slow delivery times.

I am told the late Mr Jeffries when on the Isle of Man tested some tyres and thought the road attacks where the best...and lets face it he wasnt slow ooh2.gif ooh2.gif

Anyroad I have bunged them back on after cleaning me brakes, like I normally do when tyres come around, gives me a good chance to do pistons fluid, clean and grease etc grin.gif

The bloke over at Tagg Racing is a good sort (I get the bike MOT done there ) and he uses them...I think there is a bit of tyre snobbery some times, when a big brand gets a foot hold with huge publicity etc everyone goes for that (and then they charge a premium ) for the road a lot of stuff available is good/too good for most of our requirements...

If sports touring tyres can be fitted to GSXR1000 and the like (and they are ) then they can cut the mustard...on the track is a different matter but we are talking real world riding here tounge1.gif

Looking forward to scrubbing them in beer.gif

Have a few miles up on them now and so far...so a quick update

I'm pleased with them, they "roll" in to a corner very well, you don't get to feel as if your falling off the edge of the tyre at all. They inspire confidence and encourage me to throw it around a bit more. The profile of the front means it uses more of the tyre for the same amount of lean compared to the Metz.... or 020s come to think of it. Greasy roads no problem, two up fine, I also think they are a bit more comfortable than the Metz Z6 too !?....so so far so good.

I'll keep assesing them for wear and wet weather performance.

Keep you posted wink1.gif

My needs in a tyre are not the same as most on here, I dont need somthing that would stick to a wall if you threw it at one, I never ride any where near the handling limits of my Pan. What I need is milage, six -seven thou on a bt020 can be a months riding in the summer and at over a hundred a throw expensive as well I think modern tyres are far to soft for some one like me why doesnt some one make a good hi-mileage touring tyre any more?
Billy M
dont know about that mate, i got 11k out of my last set of bridgestones on me zzr... though i am thinking of the conti attacks for the blade, well thats if they do a 16 inch front ooh2.gif

Rapidly becoming some of the best tyres I've tried, they soak up bumps well give plenty of confidence in the front end....plus they look cool wwww.gif

I'll catch up on this again when the rear starts to go off...roll on the summer beer.gif
