Just suppose that i would want to customise my CB200...
like fitting chopper forks to it, lowered seat etc...
Billet wheels...

how would i know what parts from other bikes would fit? Are there standard measurements and things to look out for?

Does my question make sense?

ho ho leon a man after my own heart.
I've just put a 400cc engine in a 250 frame, same bike, suzuki gsx.
I did a fair amount of research on the net trying to find out if it could be done and the general feeling i got was yes it would go straight in.
How wrong can you be? It was longer, and wider at some points.
Had to make two new engine mounts and weld them onto the frame.
The air box wouldn't fit then so s&b filters had to be bought.
And now i'm having all this starting/running problem.
I'm not trying to put you off in any way coz i know from experience if you've made up your mind to do something nothing is gonna stop you. You can get a bit a single minded with things like this.
OH yeah buy a manual ffs they're worth their weight in gold.

You don't say!!!

As you may have guessed this is now becoming a sore point in the Ima and suki household.

first thing to consider is is there a bike already done that looks like what you want? chances are it'll be cheap to buy it and maybe just repaint it to what you want and polish the shiny bits, nice stickers (see ima)
if you find some longer forks, chances are you'd also need the wheel, fittings, brake caliper, mudguard as yours may not fit, also the back wheel might not match, you'd need the fittings, brakes for that to, then you need a way to attach the brake somehow Oo1.gif seats tend to only fit the bike they are ment for, but you can get them reshaped, and recoved (not cheap)
if you've got the time its a fun thing to do but it wouldn't be a weekend thing unless your very lucky, do honda do a CB200 custom with longer forks? (i don't have much to do with chops), but as suzi and ima say it can be hard work too! things can go wrong and thet always do verysad.gif

And it's usually something simple that you'd never think of.
I HOPE.
devilpaint
you would be better off selling the cb 200 as an original untouched classic.

then looking about for something to get your teeth into.i know a guy that can chop a standard frame & hard-tail it if you want-also does a lot with stainless, but and its a biggie........................................................................

have you ever ridden a chop?
bloody uncomfortable usually.
do your cbt/das, then start thinking about what you want, the cb 200 was never a popular bike for custom work when new-ish, so a few years on & its going to be an uphill struggle, but if you like a challenge & are prepared to loose a bloody fortune(been there done that) then go for it my man, i'm sure we as a group can help out-Ima might not agree at the mo cry.gif

i should read the other threads! don't chop it! like devil sez, chops are bloody hard work to ride, i've done the electrics on a few and only ever liked one of them, in daytona only 10% of the chops are ridden to the shows, the rest go in vans! i rode a hardtail suzuki gs750 a mile and it was the crapest handling bike i've ever ridden, the road was mostly striaght one round about, two left hand turn and two right and it was nasty! the guy who owned it was a wannabe hells angel he was sure to be goin to hell or up there on that feckin horrible thing!
if you really want to do a chop get something bigger, and do a load of research, save up the money you'll need to do it, hardtails suck, i can't understand why ppl make a bike handle crap on purpose, just to be 4 inchs closer to the road, long forks make bikes turn slower but better in a striaght line.
or buy a ready factory built one, they are normally are very user friendly, you can get a standard bike looking really cool with the right paint and finishing touches(see devilpaint and ima bowdown.gif !!)

I understand the urge to modfy a little bike - I have plans for the RXS100!

But there are other ways to go than to chop it - streetfighter it!!!!!!!!
