SO as most of you know i've been hunting coils for the gs project.
my usual bike breakers Startright (top bunch of blokes)couldn't help so i've had to go further afield someone recomended bike busters in bradford and i have to say,

WHAT A COMPLETE BUNCH OF TOSSERS.
the guy tells me on the phone yeah we've got loads in.
gets down there they can't find a single one not only do they not have lights in the place, nothing is labeled so it's a lottery as to what you get.
a fecking hour i was stood there while this plant pot goes rootng through bins full of bike bits with a minimag lite looking for the parts i wanted.
Come on breakers clean up your act (no pun intended)

I don't have any locally. If I need a part. I tend to have to travel to Glasgow or Ayr. sniffle.gif Even then, they never seem to have any bits for my bike in. I've seen some cracking car breakers but even the car breakers around here tend to just pile the cars up and don't strip any parts off.

I'd love a decent breakers on me doorstep. sniffle.gif

There seems to be a distinct lack of decent bike breakers around these days, I suppose people just bung their pride and joy in the nearest dealers and get them to do the work.

Mainly matey, as I have so little time to do the work myself... I simply want the bike taxed, tested, serviced and ready to go when I do get 4 minutes spare at the weekend cry.gif

However, the words good and breakers are virtually never seen in the same sentence in my humble opinion laughcont.gif

I'm in the same boat myself mr blandy, there's nothing i'd like better than too stick the bike in a shop and say fix it pleeeeeeeeeeez.
however i refuse to pay exorbitant mechanics rates, they've got you by the short hairs and i don't like to be in that situation.

I used to use a breaker all the time for cars. Rebuilt several vehicles that way over the years...2 minis, a Viva, an Alphasud...

These days it seems to come down to time rather than money, though I did save myself £500 by replacing the discs on our MGF before we sold it eyebrow.gif

Spose what I need is a project bike wwww.gif

I bought new brake discs for the car a couple of weeks ago. £12 each and pads cost less than £10. The last tine I got them done in a garage, it cost over £100. ooh2.gif

this is my whole point £100 to do pads and discs is fecking outrageous.
it's an hour job max to do both sides, and thats me working in the street with a set of axle stands and a half complete socket set. just don't buy a french car cos they have funny sized threads in france 9 and 11mm as opposed to everyone else who use 8 and 10mm and they use those silly torx heads that round off if you just look at them with a spanner in your hand.

Working on french cars= not funny!!!

Too late.

Yep, I have already been a victim of the funny sizes. sniffle.gif The built quality is quite good though. buttrock.gif I'd buy another. ooh2.gif

Can't fault the citroen it's been absolutely bulletproof 195000 miles and the engine still sounds quiet. Watch the bugger blow up tomorrow :tounge:

veryangry.gif french cars!
say no more.
wor lass has a 206. it spent months in the garage from new.
power steering, brake servo and three years down the line it still goes in every now and again to get the engine problem light thingy reset.
they dont know why it keeps coming on!
the warranty is about to run out aswell.
avoid richard hardie dealers like the plague!
its been in for a service before and they said the brakes were dangerously low and needed imediate attention.
they were reluctant to let wor lass leave the garage with the car as they were so bad!
i told her not to let them do it as it was gona be mega bucks to sort them and i knew i hadnt long since put pads in the front.
i went and bought pads anyway and when i took off the drums and calipers there was nothing wrong front or back at all apart from a set of rear pads which were hacked to bits obviously by someone trying to prize off the drum with a screw driver.
another occasion they tried pulling the same stunt recomending that we got rear discs AND pads as they were both shot. and to be honest there was a down to metal grinding sound when she returned so i went to inspect.
nothing wrong with the rear tho!
it was the front.
NUFF SAID.
