Wilf
I received a phone call at work today from the dad of one of the kids I look after.
The boys nan has died and when the family were clearing the house they discovered the grandfathers motorbike that has been in storage for 22 years in the garage. They've asked me if I'd like it as they want to give it to someone they know instead of just flogging it. They told me it's a Honda gold something and they think it's a 250 and it's done 2000 miles. I've no idea what it could be but they are going to e mail me some pictures as the bikes about 90 miles away.
I'd feel guilty about turning it down but Mrs Wilf will cause me much pain in the gonad area ooh2.gif if I get another bike that might not work.
Any ideas what it could be?
I don't know what year the bike is just that it's been stored for 22 years.

its free, thats good enough.

A Honda 250 from around 1980 called gold something? Oo1.gif I cant think of one.

The 250's were still a healthy market at the time but I can only think of the superdream, the CB250RS and I'm sure there was something like a CM250. I can't think what else there could be. I'll have to have a browse because I'm curious myself.

They may have made a right erse of it though and got the name wrong.

Has Mrs Wilf never heard the words "Winter Project"?

It's a pity you can't take it to work and have it as a school project- take a grotty old bike, give them some simple bits to do and they get to see their own progress.

Plus you get a finished bike as a result- plus you can claim the tax back too eyebrow.gif

Pity about those damn annoying Health&Safety rules smile1.gif

Like BD I can not remember Honda doing a 250 Gold thingy, so did some digging, and I am still confused. But did find a list of all Honda bikes made since 1970

Honda Bikes

Hope this helps, let us know what it is when you find out.

Would love a winter project, but like you would mean lots of pain.... She that must be obeyed wants the conseratory built, kitchen redesigned and heating put into the house instead

Never mind, always next winter!!!!

I agree i recon it is a CM250, it looks just like a goldwing.

Thanks Snappy but I've got one already.
I've agrred to have the bike and I was going to pop down to Eastbourne today to pick it up but I got side tracked and I'll have to get it another day.
I've had some more pics e mailed to me of the bike and it's in a far worse state than my picture showed. Mind you I'm dying to get it running grin.gif
