Not suire if this is in the right place, if not I'm sure someone will move it.
I've bought a crash damaged ZZR600 that I'm gonna use as a donor bike for a streetfighter build. Everythings straight, frame, forks, swingarm etc.

One of the things I'd like to do colour up the frame, what advice can you peeps give me? Preperation, special paint etc.

Any advice would be great, cheers peeps.

devilpaint
have it blasted, its the only way you can be sure the paint will stay on.
you could get it coated or stoved, its harder than paint, but chips easier.
if its a budget job, make sure you de-grease it before you go anywhere near it with wet& dry paper, if your using cans many thin coats are better than one heavy coat
good luck.

ZZR6= alloy frame right?
polish it!
give GateCrasha a shout, theres not much he doesn't know about polished frames, plus clever ways to hide inlet vent holes
he's just started a fighter forum

if i was going to fighter my EXUP (which i'm not lbhh.gif ) i would polish rather than paint, its easier to polish out marks than it is to fix stone chips/scratches in paint

Very nice Woodz, thanks for that. It looks stunnin with the polished frame.
Not too sure about the gold seat pads though no.gif
FBF
powdercoat the frame that wont chip. and its cheap. about 100 quid for the whole thing if you strip the bike yourself. failing that you dont have to have it blasted to make a key for the paint, you can scotch the frame and paint like you would a normal body panel
Ace
Scotch wont be enough for a frame, scotching is fine on paint or new pannels as it is softer but ally will need to be keyed up well or it is likely to flake. If you dont have it blasted you will need to at least rub it down with 320/180 paper, then idealy you will need to use an etch primer (available in a tin).

However as DP said, powder coating would be better but can be brittle and chip when rebuliding.

That is one hell of a paint job, I must say! With that paint, I don't see how the seat could've worked any other way.

Never been much of a fan of flip paints - mostly because most of the ones round here are boy-racers who've done it as cheap as they can on crappy cars with green/brown. Looks like a turd swathed in algae sick.gif

Nice job, though! smile1.gif

sorry - just don't get it - gold seats must be like warm beer - bit of a southern taste I thinks lbhh.gif the lads would just kick my head in if I had gold seats Oo1.gif

sick.gif Hate that green and gold

lol

Love the paint job, But being a Southerner I still wouldn't have gone for the gold seats.. Personal taste I suppose.

When painting aluminium make sure you use an etching primer to get a good key - paint to metal
