When I bought me bike I bought it from Leeds..as it was the closest place at the time..But recently we've all moved back (dont ask!), and now the garage that I bought the CG from is something like 200 miles away.

Now, the bike is due in for a service 134 miles ago ( blush21.gif ) but I cannot feasibly ride it to Leeds (yes, its doable, but I would have to get parental units to follow in the car etc etc, it would take me 3 hours plus, ie. not gonna happen). Now, this service is free (as its the 1st service) and its under warranty etc.

But there is a Honda garage appx. 20 miles away which I could easily ride to..But I expect I will have to pay?
Is there any way I can transfer warranty or something? Clutching at straws, I know sad1.gif.

How much can I expect a 1st service to set me back?

The fact you have gone over the first service mileage is going to be more of a warranty problem than which dealer you get it serviced at.

Really? I was told it wasn't really a problem as the mileage is only an estimate or something? Anyway, got a letter in the post reminding me.

The first oil and filter change really is important for the longevity of the engine.

Righty, thanks - I will make sure it is booked in ASAP then and damn the cost.

explain to the more local dealer that for reasons known to you that you had o move house and are now too far away from where you bought it, take you reminder with you, thay may be able to sort something out. They may be able to speak to the other dealer to comfirm that you did buy the bike from them etc etc, you may be happily surprised what they my do for you. smile1.gif

Don't think the warranty will be a problem but at a guess yes you will have to pay for the service. Basically when you bought the bike the dealer would have costed in the price of a service, so although they say its free it s not really as you have already payed for it when you bought the bike.

The voucher in the service book should get a free service at any dealer of the bike.

things are much more flexible than they used to be i think, i dont think the dealership is allowed to hold a monopoly over the first service, i think you can actually do it yourself now and still retain the warranty, but i suppose it depends on the exact wording of the warranty and dont take this as gospel cuz i its second hand knowledge............

When I bought a new bike four years ago the dealer closed down before I got my first free service done (Riossi's). I took it to my nearest dealer and explained what had happened, he told me to send the receipt to the head office and they would reimburse me - which they did. Perhaps if you sent the receipt to the place you bought it from they would do the same (I suggest you talk to them about it first).

If you bought it from a Honda dealer, you should be able to go to any dealer to get the free service, but you could check it out with Honda UK Customer Services. You can get the details from your local dealer or off the Net. The first service is not too costly, but why pay if it's for free.

I think at our place the first service is free (you pay for materials i.e oil, filter and copper sump washer) only if you buy the bike from us, mind you thats kawasaki so it might be different with honda. Best bet is to give em a ring, im sure you can sort something out.
