So, as you may be aware the old Bandy is stripped down awaiting the fitting of the lovely new fairing (more of that in a later post) which involved removing headlight, indicators, sidepanels etc.

So I thought, on Monday, that it might be an idea to turn it over to make sure all was well. Turned the key... no lights or anything... bugger! OK, quick chat with my mate the bike-riding postie (R1! wwww.gif) and he says... not to worry I'll bring an Optimate I've got.

So that arrived on Tuesday and the bike's been on charge, got a little green light and everything. So thought, this evening I'd wheel it out and fire it up cool2.gif

Err.... no, still no lights or anything cry.gif

However, cogs turning very slowly I examined the wiring loom that lived inside the front light assembly... and realisation dawned that I had disconnected the ignition et al which was the reason it wouldn't fecking start blush21.gif

Feck me... I am very glad that I have someone to help me fit this fairing wwww.gif laughcont.gif

dinit worry!
i know a lad with a green bagakaki, knackered shock and one handlebar who once went to start his bike and ------nothing!
seats off, checked connections all ok, took start switch apart all ok,
scratched his head, repeated the whole process, put it all back together, asked some one for a push to bump start it, went to push it and it was already in gear!!!!!!
i was parked up hill and left it in first incase it rolled.
id forgot about the safety swith which wont let ya start in gear with stand down blush21.gif veryangry.gif blush21.gif laughcont.gif

Went for a blast last night with a pal who has a 'blade (BW knows 'im smile1.gif ). We had an excellent run and stopped at a pub on the river for refreshments half-way round (very civilised don't ya think eyebrow.gif ).

Back to the bikes and the blade won't start. Not a flat battery mind, though it could've been low... Had to bump start it in the end and she fired-up first time.

'tis a ten-year-old tho' rolleyes.gif

Had that once with my CBR6-just talked to it nicely & away it went-Hondas, you gotta love em.

same thing with my old cb750, every once in a while it would falter, splutter & die-had twin cibies on it & suspected the relays for a while, even fitted a voltmeter to watch the charging system-bugger ALWAYS did it in the middle of nowhere mind you. Usually sorted it by muttering sharply under my breath"start you fecking bastard, start". replaced just about everything electrical, multi metered it everytime & found nothing-thank god for kickstarts-remember them?

The zuki has a penchant for that normally when it's warm.
feels like a flat battery but then go away and leave it for 10 mins and it'll start. I suspect a knackered cell in the battery.

Yep! That rings a bell... mine's got a datatool immob on it... second or third time out I'd completely forgotten that it was there... couldn't work out why the bast*** wouldn't start blush21.gif until Mrs B mentioned it to me verysad.gif

Ah, technology... or not wwww.gif

Oi, Hilts! I hear your mate's gonna lend me some stabilisers for next year which is when the Bandy will be back on the road at this rate blush21.gif

Had a wonderful moment in a car park a while ago......

There was this bloke asking if we could help him bump start his bike, bloke parked next to me with some big flash sports bike starts suggesting various things that might be wrong, there's me, wrong side of fifty, female, old GT550, says "Not the kill switch is it?"

It was! eyebrow.gif laughcont.gif
