Hi

Ive got a general question about Boots.

Im looking to buy my first pair and just wondered whether or not the idea is to tuck your trousers inside the boot or is this just your own personal preference as I have seen loads of bikers, some with trousers tucked in, others who dont.

Reason I ask is I have found a pair of boots I like (Sidi Vertigo) and they fit fine, however when I tuck my trousers inside I can hardly do them up.

I personally think its a good idea to tuck your trousers inside your boot so there's no material flapping around by the gear / brake pedal.

Aswell as buying conventional sizes like 10 / 11 etc, do the sizes around the leg differ also??

Point of note that I have discovered, if its raining, if your waterproofs/textiles/whatever are tucked into your boots, you get wet feet, if its over your boots you dont. (Assuming your boots are waterproof)

Other than that I think its personal preference.

Sometimes it's a case of necessity. I have 2 sets of armoured trousers - my leathers are too tight to fit over the boots and my textiles will not go inside them.

And Finn is right. You ride in rain with waterproofs tucked in and your boots will fill up real quick. Same goes for gloves, incidentally.

Yep...what they said....but if its raining...those disposable gloves you get when filling up at the garage are a good underliner for your gloves

i had some Akito boots that which kinda adjusted for carf size but the velcro didn't last long!
if its raining, yep have the trouser leg over the boot, otherwise inside
don't get oversized boots, the for mentioned akito's were slightly to big and you just couldn't walk in em!

Well

I use Textile over the boots....

mostly bcos I find it more confortable..

and bcos in cas it rains......

I hardly ever use my leathers,,,,,, but when I do , it has to be inside the boots,,

have no option as it will not fit over it.....

I've got Sidi's but my leathers won't go over so inside is the only choice. If it rains then I get wet feet, but no problem as the rest of me is wet anyway!

Same here. if its raining the textile go over. Another point is that if its warm i tuck mine in, that way cool air can get to your feet.

The petrol gloves are good. they dont let you hands breath but if its cold you just dont care.

i wear textile trousers over my normal jeans, the normal jeans go inside the boot and the textile trousers go over, i find that it keeps the wind and the water out..... but as has been said before i guess thats just personal prefrence

You could go for the Italian street style (well, last time I was there) of leathers over your boots, regardless

Always wear my leathers outside my boots, no exceptions. Its a personal preference thing and both my leathers are designed to go outside. tis a vanity thing on my part!!!!!!!!
