this is getin beyond a joke!
just when i thought there was nothing left to fall off the bag,
a fecking handle bar for christ sake blush21.gif
i pulled away and throttled noticing that it wasnt as responsive as it should be. then i realised the whole bar was turning instead of just the twisty.
i pulled over and realised it was loose, so i went to pull away again to go and tighten it up with an allen key and the fecking thing came off in me hand.
the allen key had snapped and has left its threads inside the bar.
so it looks like im gona have to drill it out and replace it some how.
its just as well im off work for a fortnight.
ideal time to sort that shocker out.
thing is as soon i sort everything out, ive gota sell the damn thing cry.gif

cheers chaps!
ill sort it next week, hopefully i can get the threads out.
if i drill down it, you can buy extracters which are used for this type of thing. theyre basicaly a hard type screw and have an opposite thread to normal, they cut their own thread into the hole and eventualy as the thread tightens it loosens the other one.
that way i only need another bolt.
yip heli coils are still on the go and if all else fails it the breakers yard!--------again cry.gif

Stud extractors they're called gonz they basically work like a tap but in reverse. I'm gonna need one to get a knackerd stud out of the gs head (sigh)

Stud exstracters!! are a good thing but be carefull not to over drill the pilot hole cos the remaining thread will exspand and tight'n even more as you screw the exstracter in, also another method is to use the tang (pointy end)of a file just tap it into the pilot hole and it should work the same if its not rusted in or corroded..

Stud extracters are the spawn of the devil, use them at your peril. If they snap off - sorry, when they snap off, you've got no chance of getting them out again veryangry.gif

If you've got enough of the bolt shaft to grab onto, what about a stud extractor? (Its a bit like the chuck on a drill - as you 'undo' with your ratchet, it tightens onto the stud.)

Had a bit of a nightmare changing exhaust on the 'cat (8 studs, 7 snapped, stud extractor did the business on 6 of them...so only 1 problem at the end of the day.)

Happy spannering!

the stud has snapped off right inside the threads, so theres nowt to get a hold of.
ill have a good look at it tommorow, ive been away to v2003 and just got back so i havnt had a chance to have a go at it yet.
it shouldnt pose too much of a problem like as its not tight to anything, its just sitting inside there.
ill keep posted.

bolox! cry.gif
ive just impatiently had a go at it and made a reet mess, like ya do when ya know your floggin a dead horse and in the wrong frame of mind.
the bar itself is only alluminium so ill just bore it out, re tap it and put a bigger thread in. veryangry.gif

I'm always in the wrong frame of mind and I always make a right pig's ear of it. cry.gif
