One of my worst nightmares is finding the place Im going to or should I say finding my way back..

I have never been the worlds best navigator on my own, I can without a doubt get lost on a postage stamp, but I can read maps and get other people to there destination no probs.

Is there a secret to finding one's way while riding and paying attention to the road conditions??

Anyone else the same as me ??..

I always get into a panic but I always seem to find the place I'm looking for. I have a memory like a gold fish, which doesn't help. I've found this by just having a rough idea what direction they are in. It seems to be gettin gless effective as I get older, right enough. sniffle.gif

Have you ever tried getting into Beckenham from the south? It's a joke... I have to go through Croydon which is a one-way city where normal road suddenly give you a single sign's notice before turning into a bus lane. I went through 4 'cos the roads were packed and ya have to concentrate on the road ahead, behind and to the sides, the buses, the trams, the pedestrians and the road surface all at once.
Nightmare!
Plus because everything is all one-way there's only a few entrances and exits from Croydon so if you miss it you have to head to the next one and muddle your way around the outside which usually ends up with you taking a wrong turn and going back onto the one-way again.
A journey that shoulda taken me 45 mins MAX took 2.5 hours the first time and I missed my time slot at the bike shop for my warranty work. veryangry.gif

If I want to get to Liverpool (ancestral home!!) I head for Sheffield, and if I want to go to Sheffield I head for Liverpool - works every time!! laughcont.gif

I am so useless if I have to go somewhere I make Ima take me a day or two before so I know where I'm going!

It's taken me 5 years for me to find my way from our house to the caravan - its only 90 miles away!! blush21.gif and mostly motorway (only one too).

Plug me old china plate. Its simple. You simply aim at where you want to be and if you get lost you take three successive right turns.

you wont get where you want to go but at least you will be totally lost which is always more respectable than being a little bit lost.
