My new baby, the Firestorm started to make a bit of a rattley sound from the rear cylinder. Now these bikes arer known for their chocolate cam chain tensioners (CCT's), so i am getting a bit worried.
Spoke to Ancientd
So, i contact a guy throguh the Firestorm forum who supplies replacement springs (these are what fail on the CCT), but this is on Thurs. I explain my predicament to him, and he goes, 'Don't worry, i'll post a pair off first class so you will have em Saturday, you just send me the money when you can'. What a guy........and lo and behold postman drops em through the letterbox Sat morning.......
So today,
I strip the bike down, tank off, airbox and camshaft covers. Check all the timing is ok (so as not to load the camchain), take off the tensioners, overhaul them and replace the springs. Good job i did as the rear spring was mullered.
Put it all back together. Turn it over by hand first to make sure nothing seizes...Ok so far... then hit the start button...
Burbles into life and sounds soooooo much better than before. I really do feel a sense of achievment for doing this.....
And to cap it all, got a guy coming over tomorrow who wants my Microns, in exchange for his Scorpion High levels, so will be fitting them in the morning.
Will post some piccies when i have them up and running......
