I am absolutely gutted for Colin Edwards, he rode like a demon and was so unlucky at the end. I haven't seen the re-run yet but if Edwards was still on his bike at the point Hayden cut the corner then following the rules to the letter Hayden gained an advantage and should be disqualified. Bit harsh but rules is rules. Rossi is 46 points behind, if that isn't a sign I don't know what is.

was fitting a head gasket on the car so i bloody missed it
I'll have to try and catch a re run at some point

It must have been very disappointing for him especially as he ended up with no points whatsoever. It led to a very exciting finish tho', that last lap was riveting.

I think this is the best season for a long time - the championship is wide open rather than one rider running away with it.

We record it for the guests . They were all gutted when they got back from the track and watched it last night.

Apart from the Australians. . . . who were obviously rootin for wee Casey. lbhh.gif

Yep felt well sorry for Colin, what are the chances of that though, Hayden goes through the kitty litter and stays on Colin catchs the AstroTurf and goes flying. I would have put money on it being the other way round. What place did Colin end up in anyway as i did see the poor sod basically push it over the line???

Hi finished 13th

Racing incident.. fair and square imo..

Good race like - the last few races have been quite exciting..

Gutted for Edwards but what about Rossi, Malandri and Capirossi, all injured must be hard as nails to even take part.

WSB today what's happened to Corsa? TOO MUCH PRESSURE?, and JT, the second race, he must be pretty P'd off I'd say.

Felt sorry for Edwards, but then again was happy to see Hayden back to winning....Been a long time.

Edwards should definitely go to WSB next year. He'd clean up.

Gutted for Colin Edwards, he totally deserved that win. I don't think he reaslised that Hayden had taken to the gravel, there's no way he should still have been pushing that far out otherwise. I reckon it'll make for a good race at Donny, he's got something to prove now.

Well pleased for Hopper and his first ever pole position, he came from nowhere to claim it as well. I hope they can sort out the grip from the Bridgestones sooner rather than later though, such a shame to see him falling further and further back after such a good weekend.

Cracking last couple of laps great to see Edwards fight back from over a second behind Haydon on the last lap. Was gutted for him but neither of them wanted to be the first to break into the last corner. Good to see Stoner stay on it this time, apparently Yamaha are keen to sign him next year

No way mate. Why would you want one of the characters of the series going. He was asked what he thought of the new section at Assen. Crap was his answer. You need people like that who give straight no bull sh!t answers not Hollywood wannabes like Biaggi.

I've always thought Edwards would be an absolute riot to go drinking with, I doubt there's ever a dull moment when he's around! beer.gif

NO one likes the new section. Not even the local riders (ie Dutch) There's been a lot about it here on the local radion/TV. But they have turned it into a proper race track now.
I reckon give em a couple of seasons to get used to it and they'll probably love it.

Riders Respond To The Track Changes At Assen

Here's a compilation of rider comments on the changed layout at Assen, taken from interviews from MotoGP.com:

Shinya Nakano: "I like the new track. More technical, and I like it."

The ever discreet Casey Stoner: "Disgusting. This track was one of the greatest tracks in the world, but they've completely destroyed it over the last couple of years. I don't even think anyone enjoys racing here any more."

The similarly discreet Colin Edwards: "It's crap. The track was the best '95, '96, when I first started coming here, and every year they keep screwing it up piece by piece. ... It's still gonna be some good racing, but the temple of the Dutch TT is a little bit diminished with what we have now."

Valentino Rossi: "For sure, it's not the old Assen, but anyway, it's not so bad."

Dani Pedrosa: "Assen is now like a go-kart track."

He's a character, but he's got a wife and kids to support so it's best to keep the money coming in which is helped by winning.... grin.gif

I'd love Edwards to tear it up in WSB. He just can't quite cut the mustard in MotoGP. Even with pretty much the best bike on the grid.
