Heya! Not sure if I have the right forum but I reckon it's the closest one to the problem...

Anyone have any ideas on re-spraying plastic panels
I have a little DNA 125 and every single panel is plastic. I tried a few weeks ago to take all the crappy "DNA" decals off but I got a little over-eager and ripped a load of paint off too so it kinda made up my mind to go for something a little "different" in the paint department but to do so I think (not sure!) that I'd need to remove all the old paint and start again.

BikerDave suggested speaking to "DP"...

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers!

Dave

hi m8, you need to take all the paint off to do it properly.has the paint come off clean & left the plastic shiney?you need to key it properly for the new paint to adhere.
you have 2 choices-send it to me & have it done professionally, or have a go yourself-you using cans or a proper spray gun?
if its cans you better be patient.
if you decide to have a go pm me when your ready, i'l give you step by step instructions.

Ah "DP" = DavilPaint. Gotcha! bowdown.gif

Yeah the plastic underneath is shiney and clean in the patches that it's come off. The paint around the "bare bits" comes off easily (I can flake it off with just a thumbnail). so removing the paint shouldn't be a problem I don't think. :buttrock:

Is it gonna be a lot of hard work to spray it by hand using cans?

Dream Machine told me they'd paint over it and that they could match the original paint for about £150 or I could get a custom design for about £250 - £300 but as I've got other stuff that needs sorting as a priority I can't be paying that out for a little while yet. What would you be looking at price-wise to do it professionally?

Also do ya have any pics of your work I can have a look at?

Cheers!

Black, check out my avatar-thats my zzr 1100 in flip flop/pearl colours, also you should be able to see some of my work in the gallery.
as to the quality(the zzr's not to everyones taste) i'm sure BD, IMA, EB, BLANDWIT, WOMBLE, MALLY & anyone else who's seen it will give you an honest opinion.
PM me with what you want colour wise & i'll do you a good price as you're a forum member-Dream m**hine will paint over it, but at that price (from them) thats all they will do.

The colours may be dubious.  :laughcont: But the quality of the finish is excellent.  :buttrock:

The best way to stop this happening is to warm up the decal with a hairdryer first then peel off at an angle of about 45 degrees nice and slowly.
Then a wash down over the area with white spirit to get rid of any residual adhesive.

Yip, you'll get no arguments from me on that point. laughcont.gif

It's okay to send him your panels, just don't enclose any muffins.

He also takes most of the money for himself, don't cher know.  :laughcont:
