Full Version: So that's where the rev limiter kicks in!

Oops got a bit enthusiastic with the loud handle on the way home from the Kelso Bikefest and found out what happens when you hit the rev limiter.  Bandit 1200 boy had been following me along the A71, no attempt to overtake until we came to a roundabout where there are three lanes on.  I take middle lane as I'm going straight over, he takes right hand lane but also goes straight over overtaking on in the inside as we go round the roundabout.  I think sod you and open her up and close on him rather rapidly.

All is well until unbeknown to me I hit 10500 revs (redline starts at 9000 and new custom moulded earplugs keeping things quieter than I'm used to blush21.gif ) and I lose power and think sh!t what's wrong.  Look down to see the tacho and think oh better change out of second then if I want to do more than 90!  By this time I was back along side Bandit boy and gave him a cheery wave  as I went past  :swivel: .  Okay not very sensible of me but I don't think he'll be doing that again for a while.

These bikes don't half wind up a bit quick these days. The VFR goes in the redline quite happily. You've got to keep an eye on it, when you wind it up. You've got to keep one eye on the road and another on the tacho. Funnily enough, I don't have to worry about it without ear plugs either.
