Ok, i'm after a new front end for my Trike. It is based on a GT550 (well front end anyway).

Not knowing much about the 'mechanical' side of bike, I have been told that a few different yokes/forks etc will fit onto the GT550, if anyone has something suitable please let me know.

Ideally i would like some Slab Yokes, is that too much to ask for?

theres 3 big Zed's breaking on www.bikersweb.co.uk, 2 gpz1100's and a LTD

or if you can wait awhile i might have some early Z650 forks, bottom yoke and calipers (top yoke is cracked) and brand new headstock bearings which fit the early 70/80's zeds, GT, GPZ500s and er5

Will most big Zed front ends fit straight on then?

This is an area that is quite new to me.

i dunno if its a straight swap but theres quite a few 650's kicking around with bigger GPZ running gear fitted
i'm sure with you ask the guys with the bits they would give you dimensions etc.. at least on of them builds specials

Doesn't all depend a bit on why you want a new front end?

Basically the front end i have is well past it's sell by date. I wouldn't have a problem replacing all the current GT550 parts, however I'm not adverse to upgrading to meatier items either.

Basically all i REALLY need is new forks, the ones I have leak, even after new seals.
Mr Brownstone
some ZR550 (zephyr) fork will do, cheap bike and the zpehyr is kawasaki modern version for a GT550. I know for a fact that there is a zr550 being broke too on ebay! You may want to enquire what condition the forks are in by emailing him, and he gave me a good price on some bits I wanted...

Ask him anyway they look fine on the photo but you cant just tell from one.

I think he's probably sorted by now. eyebrow.gif

Ironically, nah the front end is still the same, i'm a bit slack like that see, it works - just.

Fair play to the guy, digging up such an old post like that ;-) I guess the next question is would the front end fit straight on a GT550 frame, and secondly, where is it?
