I read as many of the threads as poss!! But when if comes to the riding tips I take in as much as possible - just wish I could remeMber who said what and where - but I wanted to share with you 2 points that I have read and taken on board - both have improved my riding greatly!!!! bowdown.gif

1. A member suggested that you choose a piece of road and ride it until you know it like the back of your hand- well I have been doing this (hence the Buzzed thread), I have a 10 mile route from my drive 60mph but country roads - I am nailing it... this leads to the 2nd point.
2. A member suggested instead of braking into a corner (perhaps not committed enough in my case) go a down a gear (or 2 in my case) OH MY GOD - what a difference.!!!!!

I have taken a 10 mile stretch (20 miles round trip), used the kick down gear and now I am not braking into corners (as much)? I am faster and more confident and feeling I am committed more and so much faster (still only the limit).

I just wanted to share with you (especially you guys who have given this info to me), that I have used it and I feel so much better and I am so much faster and in the long run and safer.... mad1.gif

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH hearts.gif hearts.gif hearts.gif

excellent news Karen!!

and yes, going down the gears willl bring the revs up and on high revs you will find the bike more stable..

Hi Karen,

This is from Geoff who rode with you to Donington on Saturday! Thanks to yourself and your mates for allowing me to tag along, great little ride and you are all lovely people - a credit to the biking community (if that does not sound too patronising!)

After riding behind you I noticed a couple of things:
1, Great low speed control!
2, Great observation!
3, Giving the tank a slap when you missed second gear!

Just relax and use your bum - great way to learn bum turning and eventually hanging off/dragging a knee is to ride with your fingers controlling the bike (needs a soft touch on the throttle and some speed to keep you stable!) and use your bum cheeks/hips to weight and ultimately turn the bike - easy to do one handed! You should be gripping the tank with your legs and only have a light touch on the bars anyway - so none of this is new! This is great in town as I can sit upright and keep full manouvereability with my arris cheeks, hips and shimmying my waist. I use it allot into fast corners too - especially when I screw up and need to re-adjust!

Looks like you gear selector maybe a little high and you are having to yank your foot/lift your toe a bit too much. Simple disconnect of the spline shaft and move around to lower the selector should sort it out. You may even find that going for a race pattern change helps out (1-up and 5 down) - but we won't confuse the issue!

Blip the throttle when dropping a gear too - bit more advanced, but keeps the power differential a bit less when you go down a gear, keep a light clutch finger!

Hope you had a great time at Donny

Hi Geoff - I normally smack myself on the head but after the red wine the night before I already had a headache.... mad1.gif
Cheers for your response. Knowing you where behind me and not knowing how new I am to bike riding, I wanted to make sure I was not putting you in any awkward positions (but you ride cool and would have been OK)!!!
We all said what a great guy you are - so keep in touch!!!
I will re read your post and take on board the comments. buttrock.gif
See you at some more meets!

Cheers Afro!!! hearts.gif

Geoff was a really lovely guy who pulled into McDs behind Mike and I. We had arrived a few mins after 3 other mates and waiting for another.
We all said hello and Geoff joined our group - poor bloke ended up behind me fcrossed.gif
I tried so hard to ride well but did a couple of brakes into corners as I entered them to fast and thought OOPPPSSSS (or something like that anyway).
Looking forward to meeting all you UKBF mates next Sunday buttrock.gif buttrock.gif buttrock.gif
