Last time I tried an Aria it felt very comfy.

How much should I pay for one?

Would that be the best (safest and quietest)?

ta muchly :wink1.gif:
Plug
Hilts  mate dont know if you like em BUT one of the most comfortable lids ive tried was the HJC perfect fit (for me) and quiet at speed but I suppose looks are the in thing although they do some great colours n' graphics on em, just a thought of mine for what it was worth..
Hilts
Hmm, thanks Plug. Thing is - I've already got one! (HJC that is). It's become a bit loose over the last year so it's time for a new one - and maybe I bought the wrong size  :Oo: . Don't really have any complaints but somewhere I read in one of TC's posts that an HJC lid split down the middle on impact ooh2.gif .

So can I do better I'm wondering?
bikerdave
I didn't like my HJC ZF-7 but everybody I've talked to seems to like the other models. I may even be tempted to buy another, just to prove to myself that it was just that model that was dodgy. Don't know sod all about the Aria. I tried one on before but unfortunately, I don't have an Aria shaped heid.

I remember asking a similar question before and TC gave his opinions on the quality of helmets. I'll try and find it.

Hilts, if an Arai fits you, then fine. make sure you try a virgin one out of the box for correct fit & not a display model.the more vents, the noisier the helmet will be at speed.
you might find a cheaper arai on line than in the high street.just make sure its the size you want when you recieve it.

Right, I reckon I may have got this mixed up with a post from 'another place'. Prob not a TC post.

Quite likely a helmet that had been dropped, who knows, I think HJC are a reputable make with the gold badge so do not be alarmed.

I still have to buy a good helmet with the right fit tho... nod.gif

Knew I'd seen it somewhere.

TC's helmet thread.

I own a Davida Lunar helmet ( http://www.glorysales.com/davida/lunar.htm ) which is "ok". It's pretty noisy though as the face  section lifts up so air tends to rush into every crevice (ooer) when riding. Also can't fit any other visors to it 'cos the visor on the lid is slightly concave from top to bottom which sucks and it's great at misting up in the wet when I've not remembered to Mr Sheen it. veryangry.gif

Saying that it's a perfect fit and has been for the last year and a half, it looks like something out of Airwolf and it's great for the hot weather 'cos you can flip the face section up and get a lovely cooling breeze when you start to overheat. devil1.gif

Basically it has great points and bad points. sniffle.gif

Hilts, I'd also try a Shoei... I tried both and found the Shoei more comfortable than the Arai... but then I've got that odd lump on my head laughcont.gif

So a roof boxer with a balck visor would be legal then? Its a half face helmet with accredited accesory chin protector 9 incuding the visor).  So would a black visor count as an accessory and not a fixing to the helet?
Hilts
Bought a Shoei Raid.

200 notes

Colourful bloody thing with a load of paint effect bollocks all over it...should see me coming a mile off rolleyes.gif

Comfy and tight and much lighter than the HJC.

Missing the missus? :wink1.gif:

This thread has got me thinking. I think I'll have to be purchasing a new lid myself within the next couple of months. The padding is starting to feel a bit thin around the top of my napper. The rest seems okay but I can feel it pressing against the top of my head at higher speeds.

More money to pay out ,:hmm:  just need to find another helmet, that fits my funny shaped heid.   ooh2.gif

That is not strictly true DP!  It all depends in what configuration the helmet was issued with its EC22/05 or BS6658-85 approval.

If it was accredited as an open face helmet as some Shoei flip fronts are, then the flip front is an accessory and not subject to the same rules as say a BMW system helmet which is tested with the flip front as an integral part of the helmet.  This is why riding with the flip front up is such a grey area at the moment.

It's got an E3 label which I believe is summat to do with European Standards so I'm assuming I'm ok with riding with it up on the few occasions I do.
95% of my riding time is spent with the face section down and the visor down as I've been hit in the visor by a rather large stone which actually carved a nice scratch across the left side of it, I've had grit bounce up at me but I had the visor down so all I got was a bruised inner elbow (the one section of my leathers which is textile) and about 2 weeks ago the nose-bar on my shades stopped a stone from embedding itself in my face.
It seems every time I have the visor or face up I get some kind of damage so it's becoming less frequent now :P
