Mr Black Obsidian sir, you do know its illegal to ride with a flip up in the UP position dont you?
technically it only has itsapproved sticker with the front fastened down.
That is not strictly true DP! It all depends in what configuration the helmet was issued with its EC22/05 or BS6658-85 approval.
If it was accredited as an open face helmet as some Shoei flip fronts are, then the flip front is an accessory and not subject to the same rules as say a BMW system helmet which is tested with the flip front as an integral part of the helmet. This is why riding with the flip front up is such a grey area at the moment.
It's got an E3 label which I believe is summat to do with European Standards so I'm assuming I'm ok with riding with it up on the few occasions I do.
95% of my riding time is spent with the face section down and the visor down as I've been hit in the visor by a rather large stone which actually carved a nice scratch across the left side of it, I've had grit bounce up at me but I had the visor down so all I got was a bruised inner elbow (the one section of my leathers which is textile) and about 2 weeks ago the nose-bar on my shades stopped a stone from embedding itself in my face.
It seems every time I have the visor or face up I get some kind of damage so it's becoming less frequent now :P
