Hi guys fairly new here. Got a 99 gsxr 600 srad. Had it a few days and noticed one niggling problem.

Sometimes when i put the key in, it does its check, oil light comes on and the oil icon flashes....goes away once the bike is started...guess this is normal..

However when pressing the start button...sometimes it does ABSOLUTLEY nothing at all.....i press it again and again...does nothing..leave it a minute...and press it and it works.....bare in mind i do let it check itself first....

not sure whats going on...anyone got a clue? many thanks guys

I had a similar thing on my Cat...was annoying!!

Figured out that was one of the battery cables that was loose...check that.

Had a problem like this come up on the forum a week or so back..

Check side stand cut out switch if it has one
Check clutch cut out switch
Check starter and kill switches

And like JP says battery terminals

Anything else I haven't got a clue about but these are regular offenders tounge1.gif

Not just the battery terminals but the other end of the earth lead - where it connects to the frame, I had exactly that kind of probl;em on my old GT.

stand cut out switch? what is this? because the bike starts when the stand is down...but it seemed to be somethinng with the stand as when i put the stand up...and down it worked kinda....someone please explain how that works..

On mine you can start the bike on the side stand but as soon as you select gear it cuts out....to stop you from riding off with you side stand down wink1.gif if the switch gets too dirty (as it is low to the road this can happen quite quickly in winter) it can give a false reading..

Different bikes can work slightly differently where this feature is concerned so you might have to check you manual wink1.gif
