Anys suggestions....

My Honda CM125c has started making some well iffy sounds when changing down the gears, especially from 2nd to 1st when coming to a stop. Pull in the clutch change gear and clucnk, crack, crunch...very dodgy sounds. Imagine a tin can of a few nuts and bolts being inverted....thats what it sounds like. Doesn't do it all te time though.....Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

Are your chain/sprockets in good nick and lubed?

Sounds like the dogs are having a hard time engaging in the gear box.

Could be the clutch, if that's not disengaging fully this could cause gear change problems. Is the clutch cable properly adjusted? Have you noticed any clutch drag at all?

If the clutch isn't the issue, then it does sound like a gearbox problem to me. Could be a number of things, e.g. bent selector forks.

edit: do you have any problems changing up gears by the way?

Yes, my first thought was the clutch could it be badly worn? on a 125 you could nearly take the meat completly of the discs before you would develop any slip, Does it continue to make the noise when you hold the clutch in? does it make the noise continuosly with the clutch in or only when you change gear?

Only makes this noise on changing gears. And only on changing down and mostly on the lower gears. I've no idea what "clutch drag "would feel like so I dont know. Chain is fine and lubed regularly. Keep those thoughts coming and what you think I should do. Do I just live with it for now or get it seen to, cash is always a factor.

It may be a complete long shot (but I had this happen on a cg) but check the mounting bolt below the front sprocket cover. Mine had snapped but hadn't come out because the sprocket cover was preventing it. It sounded bad on gear change where the wheel could be out of true.

I'll take alook and let you know. Cheers
