Riding home through some pretty dense freezing fog this evening. My visor was icing up on the ouside - just wondering if there is some miracle product to avoid this, as I ended up having to open the visor to see where I was going and got home looking like Rudolph.
Cheers
Al.

Not really much you can do about it except keep your visor well clean and polished (to make it slightly harder for the mist to cling on) and keep the speed down

I keep a wee damp sponge stuffed in the front fairing of my bike where I can reach it easily. Once all the crud begins to smear up my visor I just reach down, quick wipe with the sponge and it's good as new. Not sure how it would work with ice right enough but maybe worth a try?

Only thing I can think of for ice is alcohol. But not sure how visor friendly it would be.

I tried using RAINEX as I thought "fog is just water in small droplets" didn't work at all. Or for rain for that matter.

There must be some stuff available from one of those 'Private Plane' shops for those rich enough to own Cessnas and Pipers. I remember seeing things that made rain bead and run away off the windshield. There must be something from one of them that'll work.

Same problem Woody... how corrosive would it be on a visor? They probably aren't the same material as a plane windscreen.
It's not the water that's the problem, it's the air temperature combined with the speed you're doing.
Got an old visor kicking about? Try rubbing it with various forms of alcohol (don't try nail varnish remover.. it'll strip the top layer!

), and seeing what it's like left outside on a below freezing day. May just evaporate, but hey ho.... nothing ventured an all that.
Good luck.

I came across this prob recently, its a bummer - i thought it was just normal fog til i tried to wipe it of at some lights.
Ended up with a big red v shape on my face that night lol.

I tried using some car de-icer on an old visor and it left a rather greasy film, so that's no good either. I found some old ski gogles that I'll keep in the tank bag for the future and just take the visor off completely next time the freezing fog descends on Northumberland.

If you have an unfaired bike, you could try stuffing the sponge on top of your (clean) engine I guess, then it would be warm...
