Hiya Guys and girls
I've finaly taken the decision to go touring round Europe this summer on my trusty GSX750F which has been a life long ambition of mine. Taking the missus as well !
The one thing i am concerned about is my lid. It's a Nolan helmet and pretty darn uncomfortable and quite heavy.
I have an ongoing problem with my neck which I think came about due to the silly amounts of miles i used to do in crap heavy helmets. But basicaly it really bloody hurts and can be excrutiating after 250 miles of riding or so.
Therefore, I am looking for a very light and comfortable helmet around the £150 mark
Not concerned what make or model it is as long as it is comfortable and very light.
Have you guys got any recomendations at all as this kind of info is difficult to obtain when looking for helmets and there are so many to choose from?
Thanks
Paul

The caberg V2 helmet is a light helmet and confortable, but people find it a bit noisy….I don't have a problem with that.
And if you are going to tour europe you will probably find sun..the V2 is good cause it has a inner black visor that you can flip down or up by the use of a button on the outside….

I would recommend the V2 too, I bought one last year and it is lightweight, very comfortable. The ventilation is good and the built in dark visor is really handy

And don't forget your ear plugs aswell. day after day of 3 or 400 miles with no ear plugs is crap

Haven't bought a new lid for a couple of years, but.. most shops will reduce the price of older styles when new ones are released... so you may get one that fits your bill at a discount. Not having to compromise on features etc.

Hmm I'm still searching for a very lightweight lid as well Paulos - my neck was damaged many years back and I guess riding naked bikes is not really helping
(for that matter neither is sitting here staring at a screen)
- The V2 is not bad - lighter than my current RooF but I was put off when users said it was noisy as I find earplugs give me headaches - the lightest lids I've seen have been in sizes\large to extra large - shells being the same size it makes smaller sizes much heavier than the bigguns - which is a total pain...............
best of luck with your quest - and if you find a real light and quiet one let me know Please

You might want to try a Schuberth or X-lite (a Nolan brand), both flip visors and light.

My Shoei XR1000 is the lightest helmet I've ever had.

Thats an oddity - cos I found the X-lite very heavy - in fact all flip fronts seem to be extra heavy (apart from the RooF Boxer which isn't the right fit for me) Not tried a Schuberth though - in fact I've never seen one for sale
Is that Shoei a costly item Ian?

I got mine for just under £200. Plain colours cheaper than ones with fancy designs.

Previously I'd had a Shoei Syncrotech and the x-lite was definitely lighter, although when compared to the majority of full face helmets, flip fronts always feel heavier

I'm BIG fan of AGV helmets, and if you wait untill may like others have said, go down to peterbrough and pick up a bargain:
I currently have a AGV EVO which cost me £120 from BMF last and it's the best helmet yet, I have always had problems with helmets pressing on my forehead for some reason but this one is great.
You may want to try here if you can't wait till may:

everyone has there own preferences i guess. I have allways used roof helmets. the diversion is really light it is used for racing i think by a few people. and the none fog visor is pretty good as well. i think you can pick them up now for 150.
