Working on Tee-Bird's ER-5 for the last three days....

Removed rear wheel, swing arm, rear fender, and all the electrics that go with that....

Fitted new rear fender (to replace the one damaged when Tee-Bird was hit from the rear a few months ago).

Cleaned up the swing arm, removed loose paint and rust, and repainted it - lookign good

Put everything back together, including fighting to fit the rear wheel until I got everything lined up as it should be. veryangry.gif

Lubed the chain and ran it on the stand in gear, then checked chain tension.

Slack seems to vary from 37 to 52mm at different points. I havent done the 20-link length measurement test, but I assume this means a knackered chain.

So recommendations please of a good source/make for a chain set

M & P's probably your cheapest/closest and most likely open supplier, other than that you could try 'Motorcycle Parts Centre' in Oxford Road Reading, on 01189594341.

I'm no expert but I got an iris o ring chain in gold colour for £30 at my local bike shop.

It has been on since march and done a few 1000 miles with no problems and not required much in the way of tensioning

I didn't know it was gold when I ordered it but it looks quite good.
