Hubby's just bought me a lowering kit for my CBR as it's not too comfy just now and is at it's lowest (me being a wee short arris).

Any tips on what to look out for when fitting?

No tips, but my father is after one for his CBR. Where did you get yours and was it very expensive?

cheers

Hi Linny, what kind of kit is it, is it a new shock or is it a longer dogbone?. Oh and wont you have to drop the front end too?, or else it will look like a drag racer ooh2.gif
I havent fitted any lowering kits but i did look into these kits when i was thinking of buying a Daytona 955i, so sorry i cant give any advice on the fitting.

Are the shorter shocks offered as a proper fitment to the bike, same spring rates etc? Worth checking with Hagon first I'd say.

It would be advisable to drop the yokes down the forks a comparable distance to the amount the rear is lowered in order to maintain the correct attitude of the bike (so the rake of the forks remains the same, ie. their angle from vertical). If you don't, the forks will be raked out more like a chopper and the bike will steer like a barge, you'll struggle to turn it and keep it on the line you want.

here's a couple of links to try;

Hi folks... kit arrived today and all is now revealed.

Click to view attachmentBasically it looks like two bloody wrenches...

Nate: got mine from TRW which is a prt of the Lucas Group for €90. But it is approved by insurance companies etc, which a lot aren't.

Chilli.... fitting is a piece of cake.. like I said it's basically 2 wrenches that compress the shocks.

Bluewolf: And yes the front will be adjusted too. Hubby, me and a mechanic friend ( grin.gif ) are going to do it at the weekend.

But thanks to all who replied.
