I know we have done this somewhere before but as I have now got a bike again I have had to ring round for some insurance.

My last bike was a Yam XS1100 & cost me about £90 TPTF

I have had quotes from £120 to £160 TPFT for a GT550.

The best one was from carol nash they quoted me £135 TPTF this gave me cover for the UK & europe full breakdown cover legal assitstnce.

A good deal me thinks

Insurers are a strange group. I'm with Carol Nash as well but Ging swears by H&R. I tried them a couple of times and there quotes have been way higher. I'm paying just over £200 for the viffer, TPFT.

That was not the cheapest quote but with the breakdown cover & european cover i had to go for it

h&r for me, 3 year in a row!
hike up the voluntary excess and they get a lot cheaper, also if you disconnect your speedo for 6 month to slash your mileage. did i say that?

zxr 750, 28 yr old, 3yr no claims, 300 excess. 3 mile a year to and from m.o.t saint2.gif

Ging also swears by h&r but they were realy expensive for me.  :Oo: Insurances quotes are crazy.

aye your not wrong there!
one thing i cant understand is, how come quotes for fire n theft can be cheaper than 3rd party only. this has happened to me with cars aswell??also adding a name driver can bring them down(as long as theyre not a risk)??

Feck, I wouldn't have expected that one.  ooh2.gif

I'm with Carol Nash as well. I got a good deal with them.

My insurance and MOT gets renewed in December.  :sus: That's a great month to find extra cash for insurance. So I phoned around and eventually called CN. The first quote was higher and I said no, I'd had a cheaper quote. So the wellied some money off of it to bring it down to match.

I asked about instalments, which they sid could be paid over four months. I said the other place had offered them over 12 months and that I didn't want to be paying a heavily weighted installment, the week before Christmas. The said they'd reduce the first payment and spread it over the rest of the months.  ooh2.gif

This is looking not bod, I thought. Let me have a think about it. 'We'll give you free breakdown cover and european cover and you can ride any bike.'  ooh2.gif

The more I tried to get off the phone, the cheaper it was getting. Eventually I said okay. I've been with them for two years now. Not bad going.

I took out third party only for my first year.
The insurers wanted an extra fifty quid for tpft and an excess of £450 was mentioned the frigging bikes only valued at £400 so whats the point of fire and theft? seems to me i'm paying for something that has no actual benefit.

I am paying £102-00 for the o'l trumpet fully comp / recovery/ n' theft of bike/ agreed value, even if its being restored in garage and in a million pieces.

Don't ya just love to be a classic owner? oil leaks n' all, not on my bike, its as tight as me  laughcont.gif

Ive been singing the praises of the AA for the last four years.  Then last week i phoned them to change my details  to the new zed.  No probs they said, just give us the details and it'll be £240 on renewal.  Eh? I siad.  It was only £101 the last time i had a zzr11.  Things have changed sir, they replied.  Bloody have thought i.
So then i get the bike and ring them up with the reg number and guess what/  Now they wont even insure it without thatcham one alarm immobiliser fitted.
I told them to cancel my policy and five minutes later im insured with carol nash for £140 ish.  Same deal as Womble mentioned which is pretty good i reckon.
Whats the difference between an insurance agent and Sadam Hussein?

One's a right evil bastard and the other is the former dictator of iraq.
