Right guys, i have been offered a pair of leovince end cans for the falco. The guy who is selling them did not have an aftermarket eprom chip fitted but did have a freeflow air filter.
Do i need a chip for a standard falco? Im not bothered about extra performance i just want them for the look and sound.
But ive heard that they(or any aftermarket cans) may make a bike with a standard chip run lean and hot.
help! Alan

I know nuthin' about Falcos (The Falco-holic / Zee is yer maun for this) but anything that less the bike "breathe" more freely (less restrictive air filter or exhaust) will result in a weakening mixture if the fuel injection doesn't compensate automatically; or if you don't re-jet the carbs. (Some bikes run rich on "standard" because the manufacturers know you're going to put an end can on and so create more flow - the SV650 is one I think, and so was the "old" Speed Triple).

There is a *magic* CO number that you should strive to meet across the rev range to ensure that the bike is not rich or lean, most good garages with a dyno should be able to help. (For the life of me I can't remember what this is - can some one else help?) It might be worth spending the cash on a dyno run + set-up rather than a chip you might not need.

Then (yet) again the Falco group is probably got someone on it who's done what you want to try already, and can pass on what they've found. You don't want to run too lean though, the valves may burn/wear prematurely - that's not a problem if you're only going to do 4k miles on the bike and then flog it on - but not so good if you're the poor sod who has to do the valve replacement later in the bike's life.

Just my €2, it might be cr*p.

I spoke to a guy from the technical dept in the leo vince main uk distributer and he said that all the development work was done on a standard chip and there is no need to change,so i bought the cans and feck me are they loud but i like em so the nieghbours can get it right up em devil1.gif  :swivel:  :bum:

Result Ging!!! Enjoy the fun. You might find them a little "wearing" if you go on a 250 mile trip though ....

I was fortunate enough to have a wee go on a '95 Speed Triple with a pair of Art cans on Friday afternoon. I did wear ear plugs (wimp) but they sounded luvverly and echoed nicely under bridges. They weren't overly offensive through the towns but I kept the revs down and changed up earlier than usual.

I could get into this hooligan malarky yet ....

Yep, that's the way... first time out with the micron on the bandy I actually pulled over when I got into a built up area? Why? I thought the bloody exhaust had falled off it was so bleeding loud after the standard one.

Didn't I look a tosser blush21.gif
