Hi All,

my better half has just joined the ranks and bought a hornet 6, she is a bit short for the seat, bless, and has dropped it a couple of times whilst parking and doing wheelies, only kiddin. I have heard that you can shave some out of the seat but this looks a bit tricky and i dont think her venus lady shave would stand the job.
Any advice on this, as soon as poss as she is getting a bit fed up and that means that i must get fed up as well, know what i mean.

cheers

Hi Loopie hello.gif
I had the seat shaved on the CBR a tiny bit and my hubbys dad had a bit taken out of his Deauville. I think you can with most bikes, so long as there is enough excess to take out and still leave you with a comfy and absorbing seat that does it's job.
Check at your local bike garage and they'll let you know if it's possible.
Should only be about £50 ish.

There are plenty of places that can recover a seat and remove some of the foam to lower it down and make it abit more manageable. Thed can also do it so that the seat is still comfy. The best I know of is tony archer in Huddersfield 01484 536832 he does a really good job. The other option is to get a "jack down" kit, I think they do them for hornets. It's basically the opposite of a jack up kit so the dog bones would be longer if I remember correctly, thus lowering the bike. Hope that helps.
She could always get boots with 10" soles? Lol. lbhh.gif

Hi Angie,

£50 ooh2.gif , think i might stick her in a grow bag and feed with baby bio twice daily, but then again, maybe not.
Seems worth while if it means she will re-gain her confidence when it comes to slow control, will try the local pit shop.

i'd look into the jack down kit first, it's gonna work out a hell of a lot cheaper than a seat re-cut and you still keep the padding. suspension mods aren't that hard to do.
