I wanna clean it and polish it and stuff.
However the engine and crankcase covers and what have you are all gray and pitted anyone got any clues how to clean em up.
It might be old but that's no excuse for it looking a dog..
Also the exhaust seems to blowing a bit at where one of the downpipes enters the silencer any clues how to seal it up.
If it was on the cage id'e just blather it in gun gum but.......

Don't know about the engine but I bought a polishing kit a few years back from M&P. The was a selection of mops and the wax stuff. I did a reasonably good job on the crank cases, even though I only used a electric drill. If you could get the mops attached to a bench grinder, it would probably be a lot better.
The cost about £20 at the time. Which seemed pretty reasonable.
If you are going to use it, get a face mask and probably some googles. It doesn't half throw of some amount of dirt when you're polishing.
Cheers mate I'll give it a go with the drill 1st as I don't have a bench grinder or anywhere to put one for that matter It was mainly the cc covers i was thinking about for starters and possibly wheels.
I was talking to my Bro tother day and he said what about getting them anodised.
He does a lot of engineering work, our kid, so he might be able to get me a discount.

Wire wool and autosol. And hours of fecking crap work. You will hate the japs and hate bikes but it WILL shine like a new bike. You could strip the head and polish the cases then have it sprayed with heat resistant lacquer but it will cost a fortune and be a pain so just put in the hours and shine it with wire wool and autosol. Wish i had shots of my cm200 which looked like a show bike even thouh it only cost £50.
I like your style though mate - a bike is your pride and joy and money does not make class - class is in the details and the effort.
So long as it pleases you - thats all that matters!

Yeah and gun gum is sh!t on bikes! Better to find a welder whose friendly! Bike meets are the places to meet these people. If you were local to St Albans I could put you on to Dave Bozier who patches mates bikes for nothing. Top Bloke.
When membership picks up we will have people in your area hopefully.
Don't know about stripping the head that sounds way dodgy.
The last time I stripped a four stroke engine i made a total arris of everything valve seals on the wrong valves timing all over the shop.
Now two strokes, that's a different can of worms when I had the x7 my bro and I did a reboring job on it and fitted ts125 pistons, with some home made reed valves and that thing was FAST, mind you it used to eat chains and sprockets, a new set about evey six weeks.

Mate i tried that with an AR125 and it pure flew - for about ten miles whereupon it blew the piston out of the top and died - never to live again!
Here endeth the lesson!!!!

Ya lucky beggars. I'm afraid I won't be hitting the amber stuff till Sunday. :verysad:
I've had drink thrown at me this week. ( Not literally of course) My father-in-law took and unwell a couple of months back and isn't allowed to drink. He had 24 cans left over from new year, so he gave them to me for safe keeping. :eyebrow:
The local Safeway also had 24 cans of Kronenburg 1664 or whatever its called for £7.99. They're out of date at the end of the month. I had to purchase some of those as well. :O Just have to find time to drink them all now. I think I'll have to get some help on this one. :wwww:
