I had some 'bullet' style silver dust caps on my bike, but when doing my wheel checks this morning i realised they were BOTH gone, some cheeky get has nicked em!
I fortunatly had my old plastic ones under my seat..
Its not that they were expensive, or that i even bought em (my instructor gave em to me when i passed) its that some theiving scrote was touching my bike! (i have been looking at the local scrote owned sports bikes for bullet dustcaps) GRRR< they are like a quid each!
grumble!
We have had exactly the same problem round here, we dont bother with nice ones any more, we just have the placky ones.

It's not like they are anywhere near big enough to make a pair of chavette earrings out of either.

Seems to be common all over 3 of us had the same treatment while we were drinking coffee, an the bikes were in the driveway of the house we were in. We actually saw the little scroates but din't twig that they were taking the dust caps. 12 year olds on push bikes. Only use the black plastic ones now, they're not as attractive to the little sods, they only took the nice netal ones. I've had all 4 nicked from the car as well.

It's probably been a kid, who has stolen them for his push bike.

If you find them I've heard somewhere that riding a GPZ over the wheels of a push bike can be very satisfying
The little buggers god people nick anything these days, well chavs do. Grrrrr. I've got metal ones on mine that were on when I bought it, there still on at the moment, well are normally wheels aren't even on at the moment but no doubt they'll go soon!
