Title: Motorcyclists ride to protest anti-motorcycle proposals
|
Motorcyclists in the Philippines have had enough of anti-motorcycling policies introduced by the government and local councils. We think the UK is bad but how would you fancy a pillion ban, not being allowed on motorways or dual carriageways and having to paint your registration number on the back of your helmet. That is, if you are allowed to wear a helmet.
Unbelievably, those are already in place or being debated in the Philippines. |

Title: new toy
Hi
with my wonderful partner buying me my dream bike for my birthday i was understandably very excited for the morning to finaly arrive and for the bike to be in the garage.
heres a pic of it still being sorted at the bike shop with no seats on it

the bike was finaly delivererd to us the day before and i got a few photos of my partners son sitting on the machine

what amazed me is that this 6 year old boy was able to both have his feet on the pegs and his hands on the handlebars
this was followed by a look that just screamed "get outa my way"

so the morning of my birthday and i wheel the bike out of the garage and my amazing partner manages to get a pic of me with a really cheesy grin

moving on there are a number of photos of me looking over the bike

Title: Battery Optimisers
Anyone got any recommendations for a good(ish) battery optimiser that won't cost the earth? If possible I'd like to get one of the ones that come with a permanent mount so I don't have to keep taking my seat off.
Most of the ones I can find are about £60, though there are a few in the £40 range.
Do they get any less than that? I finish at work here in 2 weeks time, so am trying to save pennies wherever possible!

Title: Afghan Heroes
Well I guess there were lots of us there today, because Hullavington airfield was heaving!
I arrived at about 10am & there was already hundreds of bikes on the runway, so I just added Biggish Sue to the mix
The organisers did a bloody good job; with loos, food & drink, coppers by the dozen & even air support! [attachmentid=9006]
The number of bikes, that just kept piling in, had me totally gobsmaked. There was almost everything you could think of (on two, or even 3 wheels). Italian exotica, handfuls of Harleys, classic bikes, sports bikes, learners, scooters, you name it. I even saw 2 Honda DN-01s! The Runway was full, but there were still hundreds more to replace those that went out (in their batches of 500). [attachmentid=9007]
My turn (and 499 ish others) came about 1pm. We rumbled out of the airfield pretty smoothly & began the run to Wooton Bassett.
All along the route, people were stood by their gates, sat out on picnic chairs, watching and waving us go by. It made me really proud & even choked me... well a little anyway
When we finally rolled into Wooton Bassett, the high street was packed with pedestrians waving, clapping & crowding the road. It reminded me of some of those old televised rallies, where the cars were charging along & the crowd would part like magic to let the car past, then surge back into the space. [attachmentid=9008]
After that, I returned to the town & parked up to give DemonBaker a visit, in his shop. Had a bit of a natter, cup of tea & a meusli bar. Nice.
Then off home (with an unplanned trip through Swindon )

Title: The renovation begins
Well finally got round to stripping the fairings off to see what I am up against on the Daytona for the restore project and not too happy about it!!
I have seen Harry Potter and reckoned if that irksome little twit could do it, so could I. So I tried to invent a few lame words to class as a fastening removal and general metal cleaning spell (again, works in Harry Potter), but nothing (I am now starting to think he is not a real wizard!!)
So it looks like many coins are going to exchange hands between me and powder coaters, paint sprayers and fastenings companies to try and get the poor girl into the condition she should be enjoying.
I will update this as we go (although it may span a fair while!!).
First job is going to be getting the wheels and swing arm powder coated.
